Tragic loss to a Mustang
A friend got a 2012 Mustang 5.0 several months ago and we've raced several times. The first few times it was a pretty easy win, but he's been catching up fast. It really is amazing how much faster these things are than the 4.6's, I guess +100hp will do that.
The Mustang now has intake, exhaust, tune, 4.10 gears, dyno'd 412whp, with slicks and skinnies. He got me off the line, as expected, and just kept on inching away. Sucks that I lose to a Mustang GT with boltons, I guess this is for all those "OMG a 300hp miata is the fastest thing evarrr!" guys. 0-120, he's probably 3-4 cars in front by the end.

^ Just sharing another video. Maybe it's more of the CR crew viewpoint, but does seems like a lot of people think that a 200hp, or 250hp, or 300hp, or... miata is invincible. As manufacturer's continue to step it up I feel like we're obligated to try to keep pace. Obviously a miata will never be a drag car, but it's fun to try to keep up with the straight line guys. It's just a little sad to lose to a bolton mustang gt.
PS - My MAP sensor seems to be maxing out a little over 250kpa, so I can't "moar boost", noooooOOO!

I bet you would've wiped your *** with my friends LS1 camaro. He had 4.10 gears, slicks, and a 125shot...and an air box and a flow master catback.
I think it went mid to high 12's. The car was a pos though. You would've smoked him I'm sure.

WOW those things wake up with mods.. I've beaten a new 5.0 with my 1.6l greddy setup.. maybe 220whp? I'm also HIGH altitude (7k+ feet) and NA cars just choke up here.
Either way, your car is still fast. Needs more boost for straight line domination though. That is why i gave up on my miata ever being a really "fast" car, and now its more of a canyon/hooligan car. I love it.

I know what you mean, and I agree that we should try to "keep up", but lets face it: our engine was designed 20 years ago, and even then was one of the "less advanced" technology engines.
you just can't compete with these absurd-flowing aluminum monsters with all kinda wizardry like DI, vvt, and the trans/clutch to handle 400+ whp without breaking a sweat.
1) don't know what it takes to make a reliable 300whp on a miata
2) WILL NOT be able to handle it and put it into a *insert object here*
3) just saw the fast and the curious and want to replicate it in a miata

It's a 25-year newer car with 250% more displacement, tons more tire, a usable 1st gear, and its hard to brake the drivetrain. Sadly, with enough tire and good shocks, they're faster on a circuit too.

I was pretty disappointed with the 5.0 at Lime Rock Park. My friend has a '11 with a tune, some decent street rubber, and some other light mods. He was fast, but was overheating his brakes like CRAZY. He was braking at the start/finish line while I was going extremely deep into turn 1.

I am sure that if it had the stock Brembos or even some decent pads on the normal brakes, that car would have been pretty great all around.

My neighbor took me for a ride in his '12 5.0. I'm a pretty crazy driver on the street and this 45 year old guy scared the ---- out of me through some clovers on the interstate. Corners that I wouldn't have passed 60mph in a built miata "on rails" we blew through at 75mph with a bone stock car. Gotta tell ya, 6000rpm WOT sings like a sewing machine...
While I hate them, still have to respect what Ford (of all companies) managed to do. The interior was pretty damn nice as well.

Here's your fix - MapDaddy 4 Bar MAP Sensor with Barometric Correction DIYAutoTune.com
400kPa map sensor
400kPa map sensor
why spent $40 on that when a drop-in replacement 700kPa MAP sensor is $7?
