Retarded? And which standalone are you going to use?
That guy will forget about ECUs, engines, cars and driving than you will ever learn in your lifetime most likely

Lambos come stock with two ECUs - each one controlling half of the engine, 'cause you can look at it as two engines in one case. Each ECUs is running each engine.

For the paddle auto shifting manual tranny he obviously needs the stock ECUs made for it. And when using the stock ECU and harness you just piggy back two ECUs.

AEM EMS is plenty powerful and flexible. Same ex Formula 1 driver was active at the AEM forums and good with the EMS - he used that in his GTR, Supra, etc. cars. So, why change? It is a steal for the money it sells and what else can touch it unless you decide to go Motec, Pectel, etc. But even with those, people most of the time use two Motcs, two Pectels, etc. too.

On old Lambos with manual tranny if one wants a single ECU, there was one option on the market - it is a special model of the Pectel SQ-6 which you won't even find on their web site. It is called Pectel SQ-6M12 and costs $9000.

So, if reusing the stock harnesses and obviously you need the stock ECUs and have to piggy back, it is easiest to wire in two aftermarket ECUs.

Also, the same ex-Formula 1 driver was posting at the AEM forums - he is good with the AEM EMS, has that in his GTR and Supra so why change? AEM EMS is quite powerful and flexible ECU - it is a steal for the money it is sold at. There is nothing can touch it unless you go Motec, Pectel, etc. - and even with those people still use two Motec, two Pectel, etc.

On older Lambos (with manual tranny), for those who want to use a single standalone ECU, there is one option on the market - it is a special order of a Pectel SQ-6. It is called Pectel SQ-6M12 and it starts at base price of $9000
But on Lambo with two paddles auto shifting manual tranny, you still need to keep the stock 2 ECUs.

Learn something new everyday I guess.

The Motec M800 can be upgraded to support 12 cylinders. I guess it just makes more sense to run two ecu's. I still think its more complicated then it should be that way.

Those are Japanese HKS filters - far and away from "ebay specials"

About the hose clamps - worm clamps are much lighter weight I also bough T-clamps for my car but when I felt how much those weight compared to the worm ones, I just ditched them on the shelf and never used them.
So, you use the lightest option which can hold the pipes and hoses together
Also, I doubt his worm clamps are from Pep Boys

If I was cheap id use a megasquirt, it can do 16 cylinders. Hell Motec M800 can be upgraded to support up to 12 and its only 3500.

My argument stands. If you have a lambo, whats another 10 grand for a ECU that can handle your engine all by itself.

Im guessing the AEM's only increase the pulsewidths for him, not actually run the injectors or spark. That means he is going to run out of fuel sooner or later because he wont be able to run larger injectors.

I dont know I was just messing around.
He is good at tuning AEM cause he used lots of those. Probably has a box full of AEM at home. Why go Motec since the the AEM is plenty powerful for his job and he is familiar with it?

I doubt he would run out of injectors. On the site he says he used ten larger 450cc Bosch injectors and his custom return fuel system (stock is returnless), tank in a tank race setup, etc.

I guess he could go fully standalone some day but he has to figure out the entire stock wiring & ECUs and he says Lamborghini won't give out a documentation for the wiring of the car.
Quote from his site:
The most challenging areas was the electronics as Lamborghini would not suply me with a ECU wiring loom diagram so I had to ”Ohm out” every pin the the ECU plugs and I’ll have you know this car already stock runs 2 ECU’s, one per side of engine, which is 4 plugs and some 150 pins to verify its function! Bloody nightmare I tell ya’.

Got a spare 130K laying around? They have an 8 second, 1100hp on pump gas Viper coupe for sale. (7 seconds and 1300 hp on race gas) Good luck on a road course with that one.

No, he replaced the stock ones with 10 bigger ones. And he replaced the stock fuel system with one he fabricated.

Wow that car would come in handy for getting groceries in between commercials watching golf on the TV without missing any of the action.

Heffner Performance based in S.FL also turbo's Lambos, Ford GT's and something else, Vipers, I think. The dude that owns the company doesn't even have a HS diploma. Good for him.
