I was going to post something here about how I'm not normally much of an alarmist, but I usually expect to see this sort of thing in east-Asian countries where all of the ethnically homogeneous children wearing matching white uniforms sing praises to their kind and benevolent ruler who seized power after hanging his predecessor in a military coup.
But I got sidetracked.

And regarding the complete fabrication of "facts" in the perky and "purposefully not at all crazy acting" woman's dissertation, I'm not up on my mud hut building and berry gathering skills, so I'll pass on her movement. Get your hemp loin cloth ready. If we never made anything and never bought anything, we'd be perfect, huh? I don't buy the alarmist lies that all humans are bad and especially capitalists. And the lie she told that trees never grow back, etc. etc. etc.

Honestly, both sides of this whole "Fear Obama / Worship Obama" thing really kind of annoy me. In a way, I'm reminded of the parable of the Unicorn and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich:
Once upon a time, a new leader was appointed to rule over the people of Bogonia.
Not long after the leader took office, the sky began to darken. When the people looked up, they saw that the sun, which they remembered as always standing high above the horizon, was falling lower and lower in the sky.
Some among them said "All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again," however they were criticized and shamed for their defeatist attitude. Others claimed that the situation would correct itself in time, and that while darkness would envelop them for a while, eventually the sun would return to its rightful place and illuminate the land once again.
"But can we afford to take that chance?" asked the talking heads on the picture box.
Soon, the people were in hysterics. Those who were near retirement age feared that they had worked all their lives for naught, and that they would live out their final years in darkness and cold. Others cried out that their children deserved to grow up in a world of light, and how horrible it was that this catastrophe had befallen them.
All agreed that it was the government's responsability to restore sunlight to Bogonia. None agreed as to how this should be done.
And then, the sun disappeared below the horizon.
"Fear Not!" the leader said to his subjects. "Although we now are in darkness, the great days of light are not all behind us. We must be strong, we must have faith, and together, we will change the darkness into light once more!"
The newly appointed leader met with his cabinet. They hemmed and hawed, formulating one opinion after another with little consensus. Finally, a plan was set into place.
First, the Bogonian government nationalized General Electric, since they once designed nuclear reactors that operated on a similar principle to the sun, but had since fallen on hard times as a result of incompetent management and kowtowing to labor organizations.
Next, they issued enormous (and vaguely defined) sums of money to Philips and Osram/Sylvania, since both companies manufactured light bulbs, and isn't light the thing that the sun makes?
Finally, they mailed one small LED to every tax-paying citizen, in the hopes that they would all use their LEDs to generate light, which would stimulate the sun into rising again. (Alas, they included neither batteries nor a datasheet showing the correct polarity of the LED, so half the citizens had no means of powering the LED, and of those that did, half again hooked them up backwards and therefore got no result.)
Time passed, and yet the darkness remained. Some lost hope. Others blamed the government for causing the darkness in the first place, and claimed they they were just throwing good money after bad. A few, who had wisely purchased batteries and lightbulbs, couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.
It seemed as though all might truly be lost.
After a few hours, however, a miraculous thing occurred. It was first noticed only by scientists observing the earth from a telescope in space. (Since none of the people had ever actually seen this telescope, most of them disbelieved the early reports, and some claimed that the telescope didn't even exist but was merely a ploy to distract their attention.) Eventually, however, it became apparent to all. For they could see, with their own eyes, that the sun was re-appearing far off in the horizon, and to the east, rather than the west, where they had last seen it when it vanished from sight. Fearless Leader said this week that we are giving up the nukes. And the missle defense system. He thinks defending ourselves is wrong. He is so wise and fearless. Our good friends, the Russians, applauded and said "How wise is this man, Obama!" The Chinese grinned. And the Iranian leader said we are the devil, but he always says that.
Notice how we never heard from Iran and **** when Bush was around? They feared us. Now they laugh.

Are you saying that public schools teach they gave us land and we didn't wipe out bison or the opposite? Are you inferring we did, or didn't, screw and murder the native people out of their land and slaughter the buffalo?

I understand Obama didn't write these or force them on the student (or did he...) but when I saw this **** on the news this morning it really scared me. That socialist picture drives it home even more. I posted this on another forum and no one sees any similarities or irony (still not sure if irony is the word I'm looking for).
The first thing I thought was Hitler or Kim Jung Il. Scaaarryy!!!
If I was a parent of a child in that class I would drive to the school and get myself arrested after attacking a teacher. Keep that bullshit out of the classroom.

Update, 3:50 p.m. ET: Fox is reporting that Christopher M. Manno, the superintendent of Burlington Township School District, issued a statement to parents saying the students were singing the song "to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country" in conjunction with February's Black History Month.
Sounds like the school needs to focus a bit more on teaching how to read a calendar. He also wrote that the recording and distribution of the songs was not authorized by the district.
