Default [NY] New member and New to Miatas

Good evening! My name is Phil and I have recently purchased a 99 Emerald Mica NB. The primary purpose of this car will be a weekend car/HPDE. Previous to owning the Miata I race din Spec 350z(hence the username) and the Miata is night and day compared to it. I purchased my Miata from a gentleman who was prepping it for Spec Miata, so some modifications were already completed:

Hardcore roll bar
AC delete
Ultrashield spec Miata seats
DTC 60s (front)
DTC 30s (rear)
Kosei K1s 15x7
Nitto NT01s 205/50/15

Here is my Miata, along with my 68 Beetle.

Looking forward to learning more about Miatas and hopefully seeing some of you out at track days.

Welcome to the forum. What part of NY are you in?

There's a lot of track rats here. Most of us do our own wrenching.

I live in Troy NY.

I do most of my own work and I'm starting to get back into racing. I have a HPDE event this weeked at Palmer in MA. Next yeah I'm hoping to do 3-4 weekends.

Palmer looks like a fun track. Too far away for me but the videos have made it look appealing.

Cool another New Yorker, seems like there are not that many of us. On miata.net they have a regional section, they really should add one here too.
Was your NB a NY car its whole life? any rust? I recently got a 99 too that had been garaged for winters and it was remarkably rust free.

No rust or anything. It was a VA car its whole life, but it'll stay in my garage all winter.
