Default 1.6 miata rear water plug?

So a few days ago I noticed my car started to overheat, I pulled over right away and noticed coolant was just spraying out, drove it home with the heater on blast and did some research and found out that the water plugs tend to fail on the 1.6's, I touched it and the end of it feels like its not even snug on, theres a good half an inch of movement, is that normal?

Those have to be replaced every so often. On my 1.6, I pulled the pressed-in nipple and put in a 1/8" NPT plug for a permanent solution. If you ever have the head off or engine out, you should do that.

Same here, that's the way to go.

What do you mean it's moving? If it's hot the end will be soft, yes, but it shouldn't move. Pull it off and replace with new regardless, you won't be wasting the $5 it costs.
