Default 1990 track day car in Houston

I bought a 1990 Miata for my new track day car. So far just picked up a hardtop and started installing Sparko (fake Sparco) Evo2Plus seats in it. Picked up a spare 1.6 engine which I will hopefully build into a track-ready turbo engine.
Short term goal: GT2560
Long term goal: Sub 2min TWS

Here are some pics of the car before I decided to buy it:

Project name is Shades, you can ask gospeed81 where the name comes from

Here are some pics of putting the seat in and getting the engine to the shop.

I was about to put the engine on the engine stand, but the bolts I needed are M12x1.5 which my local home depot didn't have, my local lowe's didn't have, ace hardware was closed and the pep boys my gps took me to didn't exist

Also, check out www.axiom1.com for the other stuff going on in the shop. I'm getting my PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Fluid Mechanics and Fluid-Structure Interaction) and the car stuff just keeps me sane

Napa was the only place near me that had them. Try there.

Thank you, sir! Confirmed, my local Napa had exactly what I needed: M12x1.5 70mm long. Head is off, pistons still in the block. Soft top is out for good.

Welcome Nik!

Good to see you on the site. Was a pleasure wrenching with you Saturday and talking about your plans. I hope to see the rebuilt motor taking some serious boost soon.

I've always used transmission bolts, obviously a difficult solution if your transmission is still in the car.

Welcome.

Sometimes you just want to go for a drive: just you and the engine
