Mine runs great, definitely more reliable than my stock GTI and way more fun to drive. I should be able to turn the boost up with my setup, I just haven't had the time or motivation. No dyno numbers, but I imagine around 200hp

I'm starting to get that itch... I have a feeling I'm going to become a miataturbo.net stalker on here every free second trying to learn more about how to do this/that, which parts are considered best. My Camaro is gonna be so jealous.... errr... yes, it has feelings.

Thanks for the reply btw.

hey everyone this is project84's friend that will be helping him get his new turbo toy running.

Haynes and chilton's manuals suck compared to the program on my PC. hopefully the car gets down here this weekend so we can look into it more and then race it against the supra here in a week or two. lol

There he is!

No no... the Supra gets the Camaro, NOT the Miata. That's not fair!

lol damn straight excuses.... every bolt you twist on this 323 breaks off... I'd be scared to take anything off of it because you'd spend a fortune replacing all the **** you break threads off in!!

On second though, the miata vs the supra??

200 whp miata at 2400 lbs vs. 360 hp supra at 3500 lbs...?? It actually might be close.

prejudice miata owners lol. Only one bolt has broken on the 323 so far.

the supra should be around 400hp.... no contest lol

So i read through the link from Braineack and after reading the bit about downpipes I'm confused.

What is the solution for this? He says stainless steel downpipes will be junk after 5k mi, and mild steel (what I have) will be junk after 2k mi.... So where do I turn for a solution?

Should I look for an exhaust elbow + Stainless downpipe??

^Are you talking about the FAQ? I just re-read the FAQ to be sure, and nowhere do I see statement like that from Braineak.

A quality stainless DP of sufficient wall thickness should last forever.
A mild-steel of sufficient thickness should last forever.
The stainless model will just look better when the world ends.

Some people swear by a cast exhaust elbow... but so far as I know, there isn't an applicable DG design that will allow you to maximize the distance where the wastegate gas re-enters the main exhaust stream... only a regular piped design will do that.

I fully expect my BEGi SS/DG DP to outlast this car and whoever I sell this car to, and the owner after that.

No, I was referring to this...

https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4288

scroll down to section 11

but I just re-read it and noticed it says it'll go to crap IF insulated. Nice to know!

Stainless DP will still end up looking like crap if you drive on salty roads without wiping it down or polishing it, FYI.

what's on the car is a hack-job hand-made mild steel down pipe.

You guys have me thinking about this crap too much... I don't want to spend $400 on a turbo manifold, that's ridiculous! I bought ceramic coated long tube headers w/ 3" collectors from Pace Setter for my Z28 for $250!!

Should I take the exhaust manifold off now and just reinforce all the current welds w/ extra stainless welding? I can weld pretty good, would that save me some headache?
