Default 96' from NC - Just saying hi

I figured as often as I end up on this site doing research into potential projects or ongoing projects I might as actually make a friggin' account.
Nothing too crazy on my end as far as my car goes. Doing an exhintake, coolant reroute, and timing belt in the next 1500 miles (right at 100k) and after that doing Bilstein poor man coilovers and redoing my brakes. After that all of my major maintenance and base mods will be done, then I'll very likely get a Megasquirt and work on converting my car to Coil-On plugs. Eventually, some time in the future, a high performance hair dryer will end up on my car.
Not a noob by any stretch of the imagination, just new to this community.

Hi from a new person. I'm originally from NC myself (Union County), but moved about 7 years ago to Wyoming, although almost all of my family still resides around Charlotte and Albemarle. If you haven't already been, you need to go to The Tail of The Dragon in Deals Gap, that road is made for cars and people that love the twisties.

Yeah. This is my second Miata. My first was a 91 that I parked with 335k miles on it. Never made it up to Deals Gap, but I hope to this year sometime.

I had just made my first trip there in april of this year in my Evo. While it was definitely fun in my Evo (I'm also pretty sure I was the loudest thing there that day... haha), I wishes I would of had my Miata as well, that road would be epic in a Miata. It would definitely cater more to the momentum style driving of a Miata vs the burst acceleration and top end of my Evo. I highly suggest making a trip up there, maybe even make it a weekend trip, it's definitely worth it, and would be even more epic in the fall when everything is changing colors, and not quite as hot. Fair warning, it is a public highway and as such, most runs you will make you will encounter normal traffic such as minivans who don't realize they can go faster than 5 mph, the bro-truck that is meant for mall crawling, the motorcyclists whose bikes are in their lane, but their head is 1.5-2 feet in your lane, etc etc. But when you get a few miles of the 11 miles just to yourself, it is magical. Plus Killboy is amazing at getting pictures, google him, and I'll post a few from when I was there to give you an idea. Definitely worth the $6 a picture. Also, in these pictures I am doing anywhere from 30-60 mph, and they are still that clear, on his website he actually has a few of a Miata behind me on my first trip down the dragon... lol...
