Hello Everyone!,

My name is Daniel and I am currently driving my beloved 99 Miata S/C as a dominos delivery driver in San Diego California. I am going to give a quite brief description about my auto life as I know it and how I got into the car I own today. SO HERE GOES!

Its 2006 and I just graduated from high school and instead of being excited about what college to go to I was excited about getting a car! Unfortunately for me the car I got was a hand me down 89 Celica from a cousin. The car only ran once; that was too my house.... lol... serious. At this point in the story I am a high school grad who is car-less and sad. I mean how am I supposed to get a girlfriend without a car! Over summer I work and save up 3000 dollars working several jobs. I figure a car auction is the best bet to get a nice used car. I go and find a 93 bmw 325is that was clean and I loved it at first glance. I bought the BMW and thought everything was great. So here I am a BMW driver who decides to decline my entrance into Long Beach College and instead go to a community college while I try to figure things out.

Over the next year a couple of things happen: 1st my bmw with 180k miles on it starts breaking down requiring several substantial repairs such as a sticking vanos murdering my gas mileage. I being a poor college student had to buy a manual and learn to do the repairs myself with help from my cousin. 2nd I waste a full year at community college taking a whole crap load of classes going nowhere.

January 2009 I decide to go down the business road and not waste my time at community college figuring I will never really know what to do. Also my love for the BMW has worn off and it’s giving me every problem in the book, and I don't know how to fix them...aaaaa..... So I decide to buy a car with my last 2,000 dollars I have instead of throw more down the bmw drain. My mom actually finds a couple of cool cars on craigslist and decides to show me the list. I look down the list some eclipses and a couple Miata’s..... I look at the Miata and say, "Mom why did you put these on here these are girl cars!!!!” She tells me to shut up and give it a shot. I decide to go look at a 97 special edition Miata salvage title for 1850. I get there and look at the car it has white hood black body and has small dents all over it. I think no way am I going to buy this. The guy asks me if I would like to drive it and I said OKAY..... This is a turning point in my LIFE!.... I take the car round the block and it feels very snappy and fast which is attributed to the sharp throttle response and sheer size of the car. I come to a spot to do a U-TURN... I give it too much gas and im tire sliding.... instant love!! I had to have it. I bought the Miata and drove it to college every day without any problems.

The story doesn't end here unfortunately for those who are still reading....lol... it gets worse and then better. 2010 rolls around and life is good I have a ugly fun to drive car, a girlfriend who loves me, and a career path as an accountant. Early in the second semester 2010 my brother does the unthinkable and takes my car out while it’s raining and crashes it. Of course he snuck my car while out while I was sleeping. My brother luckily didn't get hurt at all but my car was totaled..... I swear I almost cried.... on one hand I was happy my brother was alive and on the other furious he took my car!!!!... but that's family... so im empty handed again and need to get another car so that I can get back and forth from school. I search craigslist endlessly for a Miata around 3000 dollars.

I eventually find one next to the border salvage title 99 for $2850 with 80k on the motor. I thought it was too good to be true and it eventually was. I bought the car and was happily driving a nb Miata. Over the next 2 years the Miata has little problems considered the car was definitely not taking care of. I mean I go to change the tranny fluid and there is none.... WTF... then all my coolant lines start exploding because of the horrific rust. Anyway all got fixed and its June 2012 and I just graduated with my bachelors in accounting and want to spoil my Miata for getting me too school when I needed!

I decide to search craigslist endlessly and find someone getting rid of a moss mp62 supercharger kit unused for $2000. I pull the trigger and purchase the kit and install the kit with the help of my cousin. The instructions made the kit pretty painless as they were very good. Took me 2 days to get it in. I am currently searching for a job in accounting and while I search my friend got me a job at dominos where my rusty supercharged Miata is delivery pizzas!!! I have about 10k on the supercharger and motor has about 130k now. Car RUNS AWESOME and I couldn't be happier. No it’s not the best looking but it does run good and it’s quite the little sleeper.... Well there you go that's my intro... I know long but I couldn't help it!! lol.... I plan to join these forums learn some stuff and share my experiences as my lil Miata is tearing up the streets in san Diego ca..... hahaha... Dan OUT!!

I read it and even though it was drawn out I was entertained for a few minutes. From one accountant to another, GO BACK FOR YOUR CPA NOW. You won't do it later and that is where the big money comes from.

Welcome to the site. Either do that supercharger up really well or ditch it an get a turbo.

 

I'm actually just about to buy the CPA wiley books and start studying to take the tests!!... its going to be boring and lame, but what I know it needs to be done.... As for the supercharger, what is your idea of doing it up????

 

Intercooler, standalone engine management, built engine at some point. So you can put down good numbers.

 

Attach a turbine wheel to the compressor.

I had 2 previous s/c'ed Miatas....now I'm turbo. What does that tell you? Though the 62 kit has much more potential and base output, than either of my 45 kits ever had. But I will say, a M45 + 60mm pulley w/large crank pulley over-spinning the **** out of the s/c makes for some cool noises....my God was that thing loud.

Turbo exhausts sounde better though...
