Default Another newb here....

So im new to miatas but by no means new to cars. Ive been building Audi's for 4 years now. Im not afraid to wrench or get dirty. But that being said Im very audi specific. Ive owned 10 S4's and done everything to all of them myself. Ive never owned or worked on a different car though. Recently Ive been becoming a bigger and bigger fan of miatas and am planning on getting one in the near future. ill be sure to post more as I get closer to owning my first miata

Welcome to the site.

If you do work on a miata keep in mind, that yes, it really is that simple.

I can imagine that after working on Audi's, working on a Miata would feel like a Grand Master of Chess playing Connect 4 with a 6 year old. It's going to feel overly simplistic i'm sure.

Pics? We like pics.

Ill upload a few pics here shortly. i think i have a couple pics of most of the s4's ive had. and its funny you all say that. At this point for me looking at/working on an audi really is "that simple". but when i look at the pics you guys post of your motors its like trying to read a different language. im a relatively fast learner and have a pretty good reputation on the audi forums though so i hope to fit in here and widen my horizons as far as my mechanical skills and garage goes. thanks for your time guys. ill get on those pics

Currently driving the maroon one. Audi calls it "hibiscus pearl" all the other ones are long sold :( couldnt find any other pics of the other ones. but they all look the same or similar. one was white, 2 were silver, one green. you get the point. all had between
400-600 wheel horsepower. all 6 speed, twin turbo, v6's.

The simple part is that it probably takes longer to put your S4 in front service position than it does to pull the motor&tranny from the Miata.

I miss my A6 2.7T (basically an S4 in an A6 body), but I'm glad I was never interested in wrenching on it.

I can pull the motor out of the s4 said and done in about 3 hours. 4 if I take my time and enjoy the beer breaks. If miatas are really as simple as you guys are saying then Im going to love them even more

For reference, I believe a 949 Racing car did a 1 hour 15 minute lap during an endurance race. That included towing the car into the pits, and a complete engine + tranny swap as well as 1 lap.

Though that was "race pace," I don't think most here could (or would bother) doing one that fast.

I pulled the motor and trans out of my 93 in about 1.5 hours. That included 20 minutes of trying to yank the ****** out with the shifter still attached like a retard.
