Default ATL Turbo 1.6 - IamWill

Hey MT, my name is Will and I reside in Atlanta. Been a lurker here for a while, but never made an account because of my 1.sh*t L engine and blah blah blah. Anyways, I felt it was time to bite the bullet and jump on in and hopefully contribute along with learning as much as I can. Oh, and as a heads up a 1.8 is coming hopefully over the summer. I drive a 1990 Miata and next month it will have been a year since I've had the car. I think I'm going on 2 months now since the car has been boosted. Everything is pretty conservative regarding the tune, but hopefully I can find the knowledge I need to crank it up safely here.

My setup consists of the following:
Garrett T25 off a Redtop Sr20
Tubular bottom mount manifold
3 inch downpipe
3 inch straight trough exhaust
FIC 650cc injectors
Greddy Type RS BOV
CXRacing Large FMIC
MegaSquirt PnP Gen 2
OPL Radiator
4.10 Torsen Diff
SouthBend Stage 2 Endurance Clutch
Walbro 190 LPH-HP
Stock internals.

I'm at 8.9 psi and the car is driven daily. My goals are to put down 230 hp to the wheels and I'll leave it at that. Once the 1.8 comes in that will be a properly built motor, but thats for later.
I know there is a lot of power left on the table because I haven't messed with my ignition table or anything else other than my fuel table to be honest I've been in need of professional guidance and a good dyno tune is in order.

Some of the problems i've ran into:
-Boost spike (it is like a 20 year old turbo so i'm sure the wastegate is toast)
-The oil seals on the turbo just started going bad (looking for an upgrade now)
-BMW VTPS signal is all over the place with the car running (I want to redo the wiring with the OEM connector but can't seem to find one that easy)

Welcome. Solid start and looks like you've done your homework.
Happy boosting

Care to tell me your opinion on the type RS BOV? 1-10 rating?

It really depends on your taste, but personally I really like it I'd give it 8/10. It works well with my set up and the blow-off sound isn't too loud or obnoxious. Sounds 100 times better than the HKS SSQV in my opinion and you can only really hear the BOV from within the car or if you're really near it so it doesn't draw too much attention.

Great feedback.

I went from a ebay rs copy to a greddy FV BOV. Night & Day difference.

Solved a lot of idle/off boost issues I was having. (MAF was not happy)

Haha thanks!

Yeah for sure i wanted the FV one so badly! Just couldn't afford it. I would not recommend an ebay BOV even to my worst enemy hahah. I actually got my genuine Greddy RS used on ebay for $40 and thats what i'd suggest to anyone looking for a BOV option.
