Default Blue 92 Miata (need help going over a used turbo kit)

Hi all , I was in the market for a 1.8 NA when I found this 1.6 car for a crazy bargain I couldn't refuse.

Just as this used TD04 & GReddy manifold and few other bits popped up also for a bargain. Got FR and R braces and Momo free... small intercooler wont go on as I have a large one lined up. I was hoping to salvage most I can from here , hoses look crap but might do for a start...

This being my first turbo attempt on an NA car , I read up enough general stuff for a while and know the steps but just wanted to get this turbo checked by you guys , the turbine has less than 1mm shaft play.

The owner said it will work as is but I just want to make sure its OK here before I decide to just bolt it on as is.

Would the turbo and manifold need any other preparation ?

I am anxious to get the build on the way so I was hoping to not have to take apart everything at least.

Here is a closer look at the turbo as is , please let me know if anything that looks like it needs to be done ...

Thanks , can't wait !!!

The manifold and turbo are actually decent. It's not water cooled, but that just added to the simplicity that is the Greddy kit.

The downpipe is known as a restriction, so you can either live with it, or fab a larger one. I don't think any off the shelf pieces are available.

It's also running a turbo/manifold gasket, which are known to blow out. While it's out of the car, I'd suggest getting all 3 flanges machined (NOT sanded), and using FM's 8mm inconel studs to hold the turbo on.

Looking over the rest of it, that's really all you should use. Toss the rest. Maybe the BOV? But it's in the wrong location, you want it next to the throttle body. Also the oil feed is running some strange T, you don't want that. You want to run it straight to the block, so you'll need one of the little adapters for that. A new SS AN line wouldn't be a bad idea anyways.

After that you'll wanna drill and tap the pan for an oil return, and the best idea is a SS 10AN line back to the turbo. Don't waste your time with hose barbs and clamps.

Then the cheap and easy route is to find a used MSPNP1 for around $300-350, and RX8 injectors. That and a DIY-MBC will give you around 160hp with around 180ft/lbs, until you upgrade to a 3" DP and exhaust.

Awesome , I really appreciate your help !!!

I was set on the ultra cheap idea (Emanage Blue for about $100)

But I think I will be looking for used MSPNP1 as of next paycheck !

I have access to free RX8 parts (long story) also and was already contemplating getting the injectors.

By the way amongst the upgrades the car has a HKS Hi Power Silent muffler (the silent part sucks) , I think with stock cat which I will look for a delete for etc.
Also what feels like an aftermarket clutch... and not a stock diff.

Any suggestions for a DP or does it have to be custom made?
