Default Doing the polite thing

Hi all, long time lurker here finally saying hello. I've been reading, searching and learning for over a year now and finally have a question to ask over in the Megasquirt area, but figured I should to the polite thing and introduce myself first.

I'm from Brisbane, Australia and I have a 2004 SE (the Australian version of the MSM, the main point of difference being we received the proper 3.63 LSD from the factory). I've owned the car for about 3 years now, it's the first car I've modified and wrenched on. I've learned a lot, bought a lot of tools and made my fair share of mistakes along the way. The car is my daily any jobs I undertake I need to be confident I can finish them within a day, if not I will usually have a professional tackle the job.

The car was bone stock when I bought it. It now has an intake, throttle body inlet and 3" turbo back exhaust from NitroDann, ebay intercooler, Flow Force 640 injectors, EBC and a MSPNP-Pro. The car was tuned by NitroDann and is making about 225whp. Also fitted, 550/350 Xidas, Racing Beat front sway bar, 949 brake lines, hybrid motor mounts and endlinks, Lotus Elise seats on Flipside brackets, a twin hoop roll bar, Miata Roadster SSK, and a few other bits and pieces. More to come in time, such as decent wheels. The dreams of a built motor and an EFR turbo will probably wait a while.

The car is a lot of fun, but currently there a few issues that are bugging me and preventing me from fully enjoying it. I'm aiming to address those issues at the moment, hopefully restore my confidence in the car and use it's potential more often, get to a few more track days, etc. While the car is intended to be a street car, I've been to the track a couple of times. The first was quite disastrous - it ended after my 3rd lap with bent control arms and a creased sub-frame - but I've been since and managed to keep my head!

Thanks for having me here and for all the information you share. You probably won't hear too much from me going forward, but I'll be lurking and reading, and I'll try not to mess up the signal to noise ratio too much.

I'll leave you with a few pictures, cheers!

I had to take my dog cat to the vet today, he's got a fractured foot from partying too hard. Usually I'd use my girlfriend's SUV, but this was short notice. He doesn't fit in the seats though, I have to pull out the passenger seat and lay down a cushion and blanket.

Proper formatting, spelling, punctuation. Pics of dog cat. Pics of scarily clean car. No retarded questions. Props to you.

You'll do just fine here. Welcome.

Thanks rleete. It helps that I've been lurking for a year or more now and I've seen plenty of morons get the MT treatment (those threads are a guilty pleasure). I have plenty of retarded questions, I just ask them to Google instead of in a new topic!

Australian car running on a MS and not Haltech?

I thought it was like a national requirement to at least try the Haltech first?

Nice car!

Yeah, but you got the Lava Orange instead. The Green the Japanese market got would have been cool! Only problem with the Silver is that it looks just like every other silver NB. It might get a spray one day when I can retire it to weekend/fun duties, but while it's a daily it'll stay silver and take a beating from the elements.

Adaptronics are also very popular, but their Select ECU has always been plagued with issues - not sure about their new modular ECU though. There are upsides to the Haltech - it's easy to get a tuner locally, and it's a pretty powerful and fully featured ECU. But NitroDann sung the praises of MS3 so much that it swayed me. Dann is the only tuner I know of who will work with MS, which isn't exactly convenient, but thanks to resources like MT.net, a bone head like me can get by tweaking here and there.

My tuning issue has been improved so much thanks to Braineack. Little things can make a big difference, the car is driving quite nicely right now.

I have ! I never thought I'd see the day. I'll have to make sure I don't screw up now.

Thanks for the welcome all. I hope I can contribute in some way to the community.

Sometimes just asking an intelligent question sparks a useful conversation that adds to the knowledge base.

RTC, as soon as I mess up I expect a **** storm, but I'm prepared for it. It's like a hazing you have to go through to be accepted sometimes.
