See I was right...
You DO have stuff that others will like.
Very nice cars.
I especially like the Red RSX.

Thank you. I have cooled down since the original post. I'm still annoyed but that's because I am old and grumpy. I'll start looking around a bit.

One of my children is 31...
You are not OLD yet.
Not even close.
I could still hear and did NOT need readers when I was 33
Getting up and down off the floor was EASY.
Gravity seems to suck HARDER than it did when I was in my thirties.
I had all my teeth back then as well!

Serious point!
It's only going to get worse...
When your 56 the only time you feel really good is when you've dosed yourself with some chemical concoction which you get to PAY for in the morning...

One thing regarding the 99.
This place is one of the best sources for the weird strange little part that no one has in stock, Mazda is "NLA" and just finding the part number is a PIA.
You place a part wanted add for this little trinket and someone usually comes through.
This place is also real good at "I've got this little connector that I don't know what it goes to?" answers.
We've got a couple of Honda threads that you might have special insight into.
Pull up a chair, lurk and comment when appropriate, join the crew...

I've been there, working for a well run dealership that force feeds its technicians well enough that at the end of the day your have had enough CAR for the day.
It was like working on cars in a war zone...
Your test drive had better been successful because the porters have filled your bay with yet another victim for your wrenches kind of place and you've no bay if you actually have a problem.
Mine was at a Mazda dealer!
What's your "technician" experience been like? What brands?
How do you like WP compared to CP?
If you've really dropped out of wrenching, what did you do for a living?
Do you like it better?

I dropped out as well, got a computer science degree (associated only) and got a job at a Telcom.
Initially I loved it but by the end it came closer to killing me than anything else I've done.
I'm back to wrenching, less money and benefits but NO ONE will every tell me how to do a job that they don't know how to do themselves again...

Technically I'm 43 but its seems a waste to have to get in touch with an admin to fix it. I have a 20 year old and a 16 year old in the world myself. I've been thru a handful of dealers (Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Kia with a taste of Subaru, Land Rover, and finally Infiniti). I try not to work on the ground but....! CP all day! **** warranty! I have heard of dealerships paying a higher rate for warranty but never anywhere I worked. Now I'm in tobacco doing the same thing on bigger machines. It's a change. Hourly vs. flat rate has been a tough pill to swallow. 40 hours a week is nice. We do see some overtime 2 or 3 times a year. I have worked 3 Saturdays in the last 3 years and its 70 degrees in the building 365 days a year that's a plus.

What's NLA? I haven't really figured the direction I want to go with the car. Up or down I guess. Ive been racing motorcycles off-road for the last 8 years and having a lifted Miata is kind of appealing. If it wasn't such a perfectly (on paper) created specimen to enjoy on the road already. I'll spare you how much I payed for a one owner 10AE with THE original 1.8 FM (begi) kit and exhaust and hardtop and 90k miles. It came as is with a diagnosis of a faulty Electromotive Tek2 that would intermittently not fire the injectors and result in a no start. It was hard to start cold on a few occasions but I ripped it around the neighborhood and for a 20 year old kit I was impressed. Pulling the kit and everything associated with it to go back to stock(ish). I am hoping to be able to replenish my savings of what I borrowed to buy the car and maybe put some wheels and suspension on. We will see.

No Longer Available. The death knell for a flawless restoration or occasionally the entire car.

50% of brand new hyper-car (Ferrari 512,Testarossa, Lambo Countach, Porsche 959) ECUs go bad after sitting on the shelf for 20 years.
Someday each of those cars will be KILLED by a lack of electronic components.

Try to find ANY good electrical parts of the Mits 3000GT electrical suspension cars. Everything is NLA.

Try to find a good opti-spark distributor for a Chevrolet LT-1. They had Mitsubishi optical sensors in them.
Mits stopped making those about 10 years ago. Even the $700+ MSD distributor is absolute crap now.
Only good choice here is to upgrade to LS1 stuff which is a PIA.

That car may just need a decent ECU/injectors.
Now, I truly believe that AE (as long at is is nice) will appreciate MORE as a stock car over the next 10 years.
It would be even better if it had the original ECU with it.
If your missing a bunch of stuff to make the car stock, price the needed crap before you take off the turbo.
Having a 200-225 hp Miata IS more fun than having a 130hp Miata.
The modern ECUs are astonishingly good now.
****-loads easier to program and can achieve better than stock drivability when your just "cruising"
Most likely you could upgrade for $1500 or so, MS3, FF640 injectors, AEM wideband, "200" series fuel pump.
Something to think about...

Ahhhh.... NLA! It still has the stock ecu in there. The Tek2 was standalone. Turbo kit is already off. I need: header and intake. All the unused (and almost brand new) sensors and take offs came in a box. The fuel rail is a Vishnu with the some RC550’s in there. Need to get that sorted and open up the fuel tank and see what monstrosity is in there. There is some ghetto wiring associated with that. He tried to bypass a relay and it’s now running with key in ACC which is no good.

Which one? PBG one had a JDM ITR swap the first time I owned it and was RHD and had a GSR the second time. The red one had a USDM GSR, it was actually “Nashville’s” hatch. I cleaned up all his install stuff and that was my last one.
