Default Future Miata owner from NEPA!

Hi guys, my name is Matt. I'm from Scranton and I'm gonna picking up a 1st gen. miata project within the next few weeks and figured I would join to get some more info on boosting it. Right now it needs body work and a motor rebuild. I have some palns for it so stay tuned!

PS i have always been a subaru guy but after the OCC meet this summer I have wanted a Miata real bad haha

Thanks! It'll be here on Friday and I'll get some pics up. It's in rough shape right now but I got a really good deal on it and it has all the original paper work and service records from 1991-2010!

I went today to finalize some things and got a couple pics!

Yes, like I said it's rough, but by spring I hope to have the body work done and by mid summer I would like to have it boosted. Just don't know what set up to go with yet pther than Megasquirt, which I am researching right now. My goal is to have right around 200 210 whp.

So other than the obvious cosmetics, what's amiss? Is the engine running? Trans and diff OK? Suspension still doing its' job?

The engine was blown but I had it rebuilt, the trans and dif are fine. Only 109k on them. I'm replacing the dif for the 1.8 once I boost it. The suspension right now is doing its job but we will have to wait till the motor goes back in.

Funny thing is, that car looks to be in better shape (cosmetically) than my '90 was when I bought it. Has half the mileage, too (assuming that's accurate. Gauge clusters are a dime a dozen.)

Yea other than the 2 dents and the little bit of rust it is in great shape and I got a great deal on it. I know the mileage is correct because I have service records from 1991 (7 miles) till 2010 (109k) and the motor blew in 2010.
