Hey Everyone. Just rolled the Miata out of storage today and started stripping my matte black plastidip paint job off to start hopefully and eventful season of upgrades. I've got a 1.8L NA automatic. Anybody relate?

I can relate to poor life decisions, none as bad as buying a plastidipped automatic Miata though.

Don't listen to these guys, I think the early automatics have a removable bell housing. Changes everything. I personally prefer a stick, as do these guys, obviously.

I’ve actually been seriously considering doing the swap to stick. Just not sure how simple it would be. Not sure if there’s anything well documented or not. I wasn’t quite sure if since I’m turboing it whether I switch to a manual or a sportier automatic.

hahah I know it sounds bad, but I’ve gotten too attached to this particular car to trade it for a manual or the right paint job... I’m gonna wrap it next... which is a better option right? Haha

I wrapped mine and have been quite happy with it. Be warned... the front bumper is a monster. Order a 5'x40' and you should have plenty left over...

First of all, don't let people steer you away from the automatic if it fits your needs and build priorities. You'll be a pariah, but just accept your neg cats and move forward.
I drive 2 hours of stop and go traffic every day, you couldn't pay me to drive a stick in it, but most here are track people, where the stick obviously has merit over the automatic (at least over these automatics)
