I wasnt even thinking about owning a miata until I drove by one with a for sale sign in the window at my work. A day later and it was mine! Its Mariner Blue, has 63k miles on it. No rust, no problems. It was garaged in the winter and absolutely babied. It was owned by one person its entire life, he even gave me the old brochure from the dealership. Runs beautifully. Best part was the price, 2500$. What a deal! The car also came with a hard top, not shown in the pictures.

I already swapped out the front sway for a tubular RB, and wow what a difference.

So i'm a little annoyed by the lack of power and I think a turbo would help with that nicely. From reading I think the BEGI shanghai-s would be a good starting point. I know its missing the intercooler. Is their anything bad about that? Can I run the kit the way it is (plus a megasquirt I can put together) and then build on top of this? Or is there a different route I should go. Anything in this kit that I could substitute with something cheaper or better?

Wow, that is an amazing find. 63k, beautiful paint, clean interior and one owner for $2500??? And a hard top? That's incredible. I paid $1500 more for the same year, 150K and an iffy top. Congratulations man, you did extremely well

 

Damn, i wish mine was in that good of shape when i got it... my paint was already peeling, and it had a bazillion miles on it. lol

You definitely got a steal! The hartop alone goes for $1000 in good condition. A ~60K mile Miata will sell for ~$3500 (Even without the hardtop) in the spring/summer with no problem... Maybe even more if you find the right buyer. Nice!

 

I've been seeing some threads where people are complaining about BEGI customer service lately. You might want to search on that.
