Wink Hello from Ninelives Racing :)

Don't we all love first posts? Yay!!!! Well, my
Names Devin and I recently received a 96 turbo Miata from my dad. He did auto cross, high speed Autocross, and some trail days. He was thinking about selling it so I begged him to pass it to me and the only way I'll sell it is if it wound up on its roof or in a wall at some track. The bad thing is the last season I broke it at a drag strip, it was running consistently slower each run and then we thought it was our driving. Well, turns out it wasn't. Started smoking and that's the last time it drove. Sat in the garage till I got it. So I performed a compression test and well, I'll just post the numbers.

So not good, leak down test revealed that it's the rings, so I'll be getting another stock engine and I might build (pistons and rods) on the side. I only want 250whp. This car will also function as an enthusiast (or equivalent) classed car for time attack events, but mainly a fun convertible for spring/summer/fall use (no hardtop). I presently own the best Miata ever made which is a Honda S2000. She serves primary competition duties. So that's about it right now I suppose, she sits and awaits parts and some donor parts. One thing doing research on the wings is a pain I wish Miata had as many choices as the s2 does. Well, now to photos of both cars, but mainly the Miata

I love me some GPS track time events, it reminds me of Windy City Miata club events. Were at the end of the day you've had so much track time you don't really have the energy or desire to do your last session or so. Next time feel free to come chit chat homie!

It's funny that you say that because both events I did with Jimmy I sat out the last session. The one this year at blackhawk ended at the perfect time, while my buddies were on track I was taking down our tent and finished right before the downpour. Either way next event I see you at I'll be sure to say hi. And here's a little throwback for you haha

Welcome Devin. When are you pulling the motor down? What are you plans for the motor/car? I plan on doing a rods-only build this winter (maybe pistons too if I can swing it).

What power was that car at before it started acting funny? I have gone on rides with your dad at WCMC events and it sure seemed fast/fun. Glad to see the car went to good hands.

Plans are rods and Pistons right now and what ever supporting mods I need. Plans for the car itself will be a back up time attack car/ auto x car. It'll fit in street tire classes. When is tough because of the S2000 taking priority. My father said it was making around 240 ish when it started acting funny but he had never dyno'd it.
