My name is Johnny, I should've made an intro post a while back but uh...neglected to do so. =)
Hmm, keeping it short and simple, 26, Civil Engineer, I live in the San Gabriel area and I love cars (though I don't know nearly as much as some of you).
Current car:
1993 miata. 4.3 torsen, 14" daisies
Past cars (all sold or something)
Evo X
G35c
MY02 WRX
EK coupe
camry
After tracking the Evo for two years and spending tons and tons of money on brake pads, rotors, fluids, tires, etc etc. I decided I could more track a miata much more cost effectively while still having a lot of fun. That's why I bought a miata - great car.
You're about 30 min away from me- let me know if you need help installing roll bar, suspension etc. in the future. Almost everything you can do on the car is simple compared to any other vehicle, but it always helps to have a hand... i wish i did when installing the roll bar.
I am terrible at updating my thread...7 years have gone by and i’ve really enjoyed this community.
Since then, I’ve installed a VVT block with my friends - probably one of the best experiences I’ve had trying to figure out wiring and installing the engine. Emilio, Brain, Sav, and others helped me a lot through PM and am very grateful. Church tuned it, ran pretty well for a year or so. One sad track day, ended up spinning a bearing at buttonwillow in 100+ weather. Other sad news, someone broke in and stole my oem hardtop.
Happy news, saved enough for another engine and the car runs again as my occasional weekend car since my wife can’t stand how uncomfortable it is.
Hopefully in the next year or so i’ll have some budget to finally turbo this thing. Still need to install an oil cooler and coolant reroute first, though.
Car now has:
Stock VVT block
Rev MS3
Squaretop
Racing beat header, FM HFC, RB exhaust
AEM wideband
TSE radiator
RB FSB, MSM RSB
949 11.75” bbk
Sport rear brakes
Xidas
15x9 6ul
Recaro Pole Position
Sparco steering w/ NRG hub
Hard dog roll bar
Sadfab spherical rear upper
I might be forgetting a few things, but the car runs pretty well and is a blast to drive.
