P'cola's a fun town. Rebuilt the engine in my '66 Fury at the hobby shop there. Was only there a short while though -- got selected for the strike pipeline and had to move to Meridian, MS.

Tasty Danish just finished USN flight school there and went to Cali for SERE(?) and then on to Japan. Viperormiata is supposed to be joining the USMC in the winter. I guess it is all the rage. All the cool kids are doin' it.

Fun school, especially the resistance part. Good weight-loss program for diet soda drinkers too. I've never heard of anyone actually getting to the escape element.

I could tell you more, but then I would have to kill you. LOL.

 

Haha, I heard SERE was about the opposite of fun, you loose weight but you'll gain it right back in a week or two from what I've heard. The escape part depends on what level of sere school you go to, as well as some other issues. These things sound cool when a recruiter or whoever is talking to you about it, **** is different in practice.

 

I distinctly remember my first meal after SERE. They took us to the mess hall and fed us scrambled eggs and milk. It was painful to eat because the esophagus had contracted so much from lack of use. Wierd feeling.

Made a quick recovery though. The steak I had that night went down easy and I had no problem gaining the weight back. As it turns out, my genetics and metabolism are pretty much ideal for being a POW. When the big one hits, I'll be feasting off of all you skinny guy's starved corpses! LOL.

You had to get captured to pass the course. Not something you want to do twice. I knew guys that broke bones and got to do it again. Ugh!
