I'm David and I'm from San Jose, CA. I own a '96 Miata (my second miata) that I bought to do track days. I started to doing track days in 2002 and then took a long break from 2006 to 2012. Well, it was a break from car track days because I was doing them with a motorcycle instead. About six months after my son was born, I sold my motorcycle. After six months, the track bug bit again and decided to pick up my second Miata.

I signed up for this forum because I want to research boost! I want more powah but I want to do it right.

Hello David and welcome to the forum! We're happy to have you here. Awesome pictures of your ride, you did a great job on it! You listed your current mods. Any plans for the future?

 

Thanks for the welcome. My immediate plans are to get another seat and harness for the passenger side. And I want to get a spoiler of some kind but I haven't decided yet, maybe KG Works style. I do want to get some forced induction but I'm not sure how I want to go about it. I'm leaning towards an off-the-shelf kit for ease of use. I'm also trying to decide if I want to spend the extra money for a CARB legal kit. The car is not my daily driver because I take my son to school everyday but I do drive the car to and from the track and whenever I get chance. Currently, the car passes smog and that is very convenient. But if the turbo set up isn't too hard to remove, then I would consider something that is not smog-friendly.

My wife and I both drive turbo Subarus everyday but I've never had anything but the stock turbo on any car I've owned. So adding a turbo to a car is new to me. I'll probably hold off from the turbo until next year (or at least after this summer) so I can get one more smog check in. I figure that will give me plenty of time to do research and make a decision.
