Default Hi

I bought a '91 Miata ~16 months ago

I plan on modifying it

I've been reading this board for over a year, and though I still feel like I don't have much to contribute on a technical level (and I don't post ***** like some people), I figured I might as well get this bullshit over with in case I ever wanted to post something or start a thread (I've seen how you guys abuse "newbs")...

So...ta-da

So, how did the assimilation go? Any chafing or irritation from the implants?

Perhaps you'd like an analgesic cream?

I assume your username is a reference to a GVR-4. Do you still own it. Is it a crap-trap?

Ah. I assumed it was your Borg identification.

(I honestly had no idea that they had a serialized special edition in '91. Now I know.)

I didn't know either until I went to look at the car.

The seller thought highly of it being a special edition, but I didn't have the heart to tell him I was planning on gutting it and removing everything that made it "special".

But yes, the Borg thing was also on my mind, though I'm not as pretty as 7 of 9. Sorry

So I shouldn't have thrown out all the SE parts? Whoopsy

I remember someone on here saying that the chassis is more or less a consumable. Something happens, just move all the expensive bits to the next chassis and keep driving.

Funny, it kind of depends on who you talk to.

We've got a couple of folks on here who seem to view their entire drivetrain as a consumable. Blew the transmission on the dyno? Grab another one and continue the session. Hole blown through the case? Good excuse to finally use those H-beam rods that I've had lying around. Differential exploded on the racetrack? Grab the one out of your buddy's daily driver and head back out.
