Hi from across the waters
Hi guys,
I've joined the forum to give some of you longtime members a throwback to the past.
I bet some of you remember this for sale topic.. impossible no-one does since it's freekin 16 pages long:
https://www.miataturbo.net/cars-sale...1-500-a-41560/
Since a month or so, this car is in my possession.
This is what it looked like when I picked it up:
The car has spent the past five years in that exact spot.
Upon buying the car the owner told me a freeze plug came out of the back of the block and as a result the engine overheated within the first 30 miles of his ownership.
The owner blamed it on Americans and their inability to build engines, tho' I thought that was a bit odd.
Upon stripping the car and removing the heaterbox (the engine was already out) I discovered that it only had pure water in it, no coolant.
I then checked the import papers and saw it arrived January 2011, in the middle of winter when it's always freezing here.
That explains why the freeze plug came out...
The guy had a new bottom end built and the head is now at the machine shop. Once I get that back I'll start assembling the engine.
The car itself is gonna recieve a stock 1.8 I got laying around, together with a 5 speed box and 3.9 Torsen diff.
I'll then use it as my daily driver and learn how to properly drive a rear wheel drive car. Since I've just turned 18 (which is the age required to legally drive out here) I don't want to wreck a perfectly fine Miata due to driver inexperience.
The engine and drivetrain will be dropped into my 95 M-Edition Miata running Tuckin99 flares
Apologies for the crappy pictures.. I'll get better ones soon
