Default Hi from New Zealand.

Hi my names Jason inherited my 2002 type rs from my late father few years ago. Sat around for about 2 years but I’ve been driving it for about a year now. Awesome car to drive have put a new soft top on and made it a space in the shed so it’s a bit more loved haha. I intend to turbo it as it’s little under powered for my liking, I’ve always owned turboed Japanese cars and other modified cars so used to a bit more power.

I’m a fabricator by trade and have built a couple of cars up over the years. I’ll do a build up thread as I get into it. I’ve mounted the intercooler just waiting on flanges for manifold and bends for piping.

Welcome HG! I almost gave you a neg cat for that user nic, but since you are new here I'll let it slide Sorry to hear about your father, that car will be special for you.

I look forward to reading your build thread! Have a good look around here, lots of good info for you to pick over.

Finished this over the weekend few bits to tidy up going to make a cover to hide intercooler and radiator.

initial test drives are ok I’ve got it idling well but it has an issue under boost. Bang on 7psi or 150 kpa it falls completely flat like no fuel. I’m running a megasquirt pnp stock fuel pump and regulator with pink sti injectors. If I rev slowly keeping under 7psi it’ll go to red line. I don’t have anyway of monitoring fuel pressure (I’m looking it that now) I’m wondering if the stock which is actually an after market replacement pump or the stock fuel pressure reg are not up to it. Otherwise happy as right now!! Just need to sort it for the holidays!!

This might be a dumb question, but do you have overboost protection on? It's easy to miss in the settings when you have all of the other stuff to focus on. It would make it completely cut out over a certain boost pressure

That’s what it was was playing around last night and opened the boost tab and saw it at 150kpa fuel cut I rolled my eyes at myself. So it’s good now pulls 12psi like it’s sposed to🙄

Hell yeah, glad to hear it.
Interesting engine bay. What was the thought behind moving the radiator back? Seems like a lot of extra changes compared to putting the IC in front.

Was bit to move everything but I had a vision of how I wanted the piping to look didn’t like the look of them straight over the top or tucked down out of sight.

I’m just wondering how he got that room. I have not popped my hood to see if a stock size would allow that intercooler piping route, but I’m not picturing it from memory.

Generic Chinese radiator only went with ali so could modify the top outlet.
