I've been learking here and on m.net for quite a while, but I believe I've gotten to the point where I can ask intelligent questions when the search feature doesn't yeald an answer to my question should I have one, so I've come here to introduce myself.
I recently purchased a NC1 and I intend on doing the obligatory 2.5 swap (goal of 200 daily-able whp), and eventually a turbo (goal of 350+whp). I'm an ok wrench, and I have no mechanical empathy. I've also owned a NA2, NB and I just came from a '00 Camaro SS, all manual and lightly modified.

As a general disclaimer, know that most of us here are cheapskates, and the body of knowledge and experience on the NC is relatively small as compared to the NA / NB. The '06 and later cars are much less friendly to DIY / homebrew modification, owing largely to the much higher degree of complexity and integration of the OEM ECU. (eg: you can't just rip it out and replace it with a Megasquirt / Adaptronic / etc.

The knowledge base is definitely the biggest issue thus far, but I haven't found myself in completely uncharted waters yet.
From what I can tell Moto East has me covered as far as retuning the factory ECU for the 2.5 swap and the turbo go. I plan on going with the Fab9 turbo kit when the time comes.

Welcome! I expect that the NC will eventually catch on. I bought one in 2007 and loved it mostly stock. It should be a real hoot with proper suspension and 300+who

Serious question:

After the NC meme thread hit I'm now seeing NC's being called boats all over the forum.

Is everyone actually calling them boats or do we have a mod playing fun games?

It's because NCs are slightly larger then the NA and NB cars, so people jokingly refer to them as boats. Calling a car a boat is like saying it's large and unwieldy.
