Protip: You are the new guy here. Coming in like you own the place is going to guarantee that you have a bad time and everyone thinks that you're a douche canoe.

Think about it this way: you're new at school/work/whatever. You see a group of rowdy guys some of which you may not like. Do you walk up to the group and flat out tell everyone "you seem like a-holes, so shut up and accept me"? No you don't do that. Have some decency, because acting like an animal from the get-go is only going to make people act like more of an animal towards you. This isn't prison, beating up the 1st guy you see isn't gonna get you respect, it's just gonna get the rest of the guys to rape you harder.
