Hi all, I picked up a turbo miata track car this week. it wont be home for a few more weeks since it needs a few finishing touches. i have a couple pics (crappy cell pics) of the car, and its questionable paint scheme. i didn't specify the paint, it was a track car built and never sold. i couldn't get far enough back from the car to get a full shot because the builder has the most epic garage in history.

i had to hide behind the lift for an hour sporting an Anchor man woody because he had a viper, lambo, z06, 50's vette, four miata track cars, and a awesome radical SR8 track car in there. anyway, the car started life as a 94 M, i thought it was green but apparently it's a really dark blue. it has unfortunate blue racing stripes, but it's fast.

should pick it up in a few weeks after the suspension set up is done and the seat install is finished. it has a FM II turbo at 12psi, koni coil overs and a bunch of other stuff. The builder took me for a ride in his almost identical yellow car and it was very impressive.

i've been tracking a 2012 Boss 302 over a year. i went to MSR Cresson with the BMW club a few weeks back and caught a ride in a spec miata with an instructor and sold my Boss 302 the next week. So much fun to track these cars and they are so cheap on consumables. That Boss was fast and great for a track car, but ate tires and brake pads like candy.

it looks like the slightly less attractive sister to this car:

From zero to boosted in 1 post. Nice intro post. Welcome aboard, looks like a sweet car. You will of course participate in TXMC next round?

From zero to boosted track car in one post, even more impressive.

Welcome, go have fun in it and come back when your bolts stretch.

Silver stripes would go a long way to improve things.

thanks guys, keith verges built that car, that's him in the background in the crappy cell pics. he used some sort of weird aircraft fastener and copious amounts of safety wire on all the bolts of the turbo system. same sort of stuff he used on his yellow turbo bumble bee car. apparently things stay put very well.

i will certainly post more pics once the car is home with me. my son's birthday is next weekend so i couldn't make it back for the suspension tuning and final set up. keith is racing the weekend after that so he isn't available so delivery is set for the first weekend in june. i always think i'm a decent driver until i go aroudn the track with someone like keith and realize just how badly i suck.

anyway, the stripes are painted on. i'm thinking if i cant stand the blue ill have them painted white eventually, mostly to not copy the other car keith built. what is TXMC?

im still looking for an open car hauler too, any of you in the Dallas or East Texas area that knows of one hit me up. i don't want to spend a ton on one. found a new one for $1800 in alto that will work.

Keith was very cool, he let me drive bumble bee, which I then slid into the grass on our second lap. bruised ego is still a bit sore. my car even has ABS, which is nice since i fully planned on flat spotting several tires learning to drive it.

You need to find out what type of studs are installed between the manifold and turbo. If they are not Inconel studs, the first thing you need to do is order a set of Inconel studs from Savington at Track Speed Engineering.

that is where they used the aircraft fasteners and lots of safety wire, also used those where the exhaust bolted up to the header. he told me what they were called, but i forget the name. some sort of weird looking highly faceted bolts used for high vibration places on aircraft. he uses the same set up on his car and hasn't had issues after years of hooning it well beyond my ability. granted that doesn't mean i wont have issues. it looks like the bolt with the grey head standing up. ill take some pics when i get the car home next month.
