Just wanted to say hello.
Been lurking here for a few months poking my head around, but in the last month coming on here has been a daily thing so I figured it was time to say hey.
A little about me: I am a college student in Oregon. I enjoy snowboarding, computer games, sleeping, and of course, cars. My dad and his parents have always been into all kinds of racing, so whenever grandma and grandpa were in town I got used to watching nascar and formula 1 and occasionally even going races. As soon I got my license I was hooked on driving. It wasn't long before I started spending a lot of my time on the internet browsing different forums and pages enjoying reading all about them. My plan in college is to get my Associates of Applied Science degree through a automotive service program and then going into mechanical engineering. My dream is to be on something like a La Mans team one day, but I would settle on anything between an average mechanic and that.
I bought my 1997 miata about 5 months ago that had a few mods done to it. They where:
A CAI that I didn't care to look for a brand for
Jackson Racing headers
Frog Boss single hoop roll bar
The car itself is in decent shape, I bought it with 137k miles on it, it had a few cosmetic problems but overall looks nice. I wanted to get a 1.8l and I had promised my mother I would have a roll bar if I got a convertible, so this car met all my requirements. It's far from perfect, but I love it all the same.
So far the only thing I have done to the car is a DIY sleepy eye mod. I wanted to spend a few bucks to see if I could have a successful project with wiring, as I had never really done anything like it on my own before and it turned out alright. I know it is stupid, but theoretically it has some application, right?
I plan on going turbo. Right now I am slowly working on putting together a megasquirt as the first step of my build. I want to understand and tune my engine before I do anything to it. Step two is currently undecided while I learn what will hopefully be my best option.
Thanks for reading my post and I look forward to hanging out with all of you. I'll try to get some pictures of my miata up tomorrow after I give her a bath!

One of the better intro threads as of late. Welcome. We need pictures, it's like a toll you pay before this thread is interesting. We accept a few types of pictures; ones of your maita, your gf, or kitties. You choose.
All the information you could ever want about tuning with your ms and putting together a fantastic turbo setup are located on this site.

I challenge the order of pictures. It should be Miata, cats, then gf.
And welcome! Out of the last 10 or so new posters, you seem to be the only one who seems to actually have a head on his shoulders! We like that. Just don't suddenly delve into questions about ebay turbos and drifting.

As promised here are some pictures. Unfortunately I do not have a cat or a gf, so hopefully these will do:
My ridiculous amount of air fresheners started when I was to lazy to take the old one off when I got a new one, but now I just find it oddly funny so I kept them.
Close up of the blemish on the front bumper, done by the previous owner. I had the license plate covering it up for a bit, but I finally decided to take it off so I do my best to fix it, until either I can make it look nice or just fork out 100 bucks when one becomes avaliable. Currently going to smooth it over with another layer of body filler, then head off to the local mazda dealership to see if they have classic red miata paint.
