Default Left the turbo Festiva life for this

Miatas are considered the dark side over at the Festiva forum. I have been lurking this forum for a while now, but finally got a Miata.

It is a 1991 with 160k and a Jackson Racing Failcharger. I started lurking more aggressively because I am starting to gather parts for my fail 1.6 turbo build (sorry 1.8 humpers, i am on a budget.

I am a Junior in college for engineering and don't want anything super complicated. Pretty much gather all parts and be driving over the weekend this summer.

I am not dumb and unexperienced. I'm sure some of you have had experience with fastivab6tg25mr. The other turbo festiva guy. I built mine when I was 16. I don't need a challenge and just want to have fun this time.

Welcome, start by finding yourself a ready to go megasquirt and familiarizing yourself with that if you don't want a challenge.

If you realize your budget isn't big enough for one of the ready to go units and you realize you DO want a challenge, you can always build your own.

Welcome to the forum. Post pics and exploits with the former project. We like underdog cars.

Welcome. fastivab6tg25mr (JT) is a good friend of mine. If you're as cool as him, you'll fit right in

Thanks for the welcomes guys. I will definitely be buying a MS from Braineack and doing a similar build to Underdogs. I was going to do a 1.8 build, but I should really be financially smart and also the simplicity. And by challenge I ment having to fabricate everything or do weird things like the Festiva.

Here she is. Picked it up because it was the only reasonably kept Miata and it was supercharged for $3200. Yeah, I got fake wheels on lowering springs, I just want to go fast in a straightline.

I will not actually begin the build until summer when I have an internship. I look at the classified daily so I can build this whole thing relatively inexpensively. +-$2k

Here is the turbo Festiva at Thunderhill.

And my single cam 1.8 swap Festiva which I crashed

Nice looking car. I think my track car needs a stripe of some sort. But I always seem to need consumables more. Lol.

Hot damn, that's a clean car for $2k. Because I know you'll be selling the supercharge, right?

How does one even buy a Festiva stateside? I did a few quick google searches and couldn't come up with remotely anything as a whole car for sale.

The very first thing which came into my mind was to buy an 80s vintage Toyota Tercel from a junkyard, lift it via the cheapest means possible (replace the springs with drainage pipe, for instance) and offer it as a trade to this guy.

I live near very populated areas, so it isn' impossible.

Fun fact:

It had never occurred to me that a google image search for "lifted tercel" would actually produce useful results.

Until now.

So then I thought "well, there's no way I'm going to find pictures of a jacked-up Cressida."

Corolla?

I'm running out of ideas. What's a duller thing than a Corolla?

Kia Sorrento? Yeah- I mean, now that they've got the whole "won't immediately fall apart" thing handled, there's nothing exciting at all left about owning a Kia Sorrento. Is there?

God dammit!

Also: Those lifted corollas are common. Could be had with a twin stick manual transmission.
