Default Lurker building a PTE NB

Howdy!

First off, a huge thanks to all the awesome content in this community. I've a big fan of 949 Racing, and I appreciate everything you guys do.

I'm about 40, with 3 cats. I've been autocrossing since 2007. 6 seasons of Lemons. Some Rallycross (6th in the nation!). Some SCCA Spec Miata. Lots of iRacing.

My current Miata project is a 1999 NASA PTE build. It started life as an STR autocross car, with some local success. Then I gutted it and rebuilt the motor, and did a few HPDE's in TX. Now I'm finishing up a chassis swap, with a spec miata tub. My goal is to get teched, shaken down, and ready for the NASA event at NOLA on Halloween. My longer term goal is to put together a consistent campaign in this thing, and maintain my comp license. Fast will have to come after I figure out how to show up and finish.

Other stuff... We've got a strong enduro team (TARP Racing) that's been running in Lemons for several seasons. The current car is a Hatsune Miku themed e36. This weekend, I'm headed up to Thunderhill to drive an LS swapped Nova. Then I'll finish up the season at the Houston 24, and Road Atlanta. I've also got a full season of autocross coaching booked.

I'm happy to help, where I can, with crap can racing or general IT stuff.

I could use all the help I can get when it comes to consistently campaigning my Miata, on a budget.

Cheers,

MM

Wiring done. Next is fuel system and fluid, then test start!

Welcome to the forum and nice first post. Thats quite the journey to Thunderhill and back.

definitely make a build thread or have this eventually moved so that we can all follow your progress.

Thanks! I'll get a build thread started, and add a link to my post. The journey to THill is an easy one. Fly into Sacramento, hand over all my cash, race car

Hey, nice car and class choice! I too have a white NB1 STR turned PTE/TTE - https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...e-walls-83284/

You might be aware, but 2018 is the last year of PTE, it will be migrating to ST6. I think cars like ours will slot into that class fairly easily, but I guess we'll see.

Thanks! Nice build, I just skimmed through all 13 pages of it. It was great to see the low weight. Aside from your lovely seat, I think we have a pretty similar build.

I figured PTE was ending soon, but I'll just get in where I fit in. Right now, it's more about having something that passes tech.

Thankfully, ST rules should be a little more.... fluid than say the typical SCCA layout. You should be able to change minor items and fit into the class. If not, ST5/TT5 isn't all too difficult to bump up to it seems. Go check out Dan's build - https://www.miataturbo.net/build-thr...e-103-a-90770/
