Lurker from Canada
Hello all, I've been reading the forums here for about 4 years and decided it was time to make an introductory post.
My name is James and I'm from Ontario Canada, in around Guelph. I first got an 01 Miata in 2016 that was a pile of rusty garbage but it was a fun car and did ok on track. I wanted to modify it but didn't want to sink money into a car with rust holes in the frame large enough to fit a hand in.
Sold it and found a mint 03 (yes I know the TF diff is worse but it's very difficult to find good NB2s up here.) 6 speed sport package with less than 50,000 miles that had never been winter driven and had been krowned every year.
Soon enough it had a set of Xida XLs, ELBJs, CSF rad, and 15x9 6uls. Apart from the previous owners K&N intake and axle back exhaust the engine is stock. After about half a dozen track days the car is fun but definitely needs more power.
The goal of the car is to be a nice weather daily driver while also being dead reliable on track. I don't mind working on it but with work and offroad motorcycle racing I don't want to have to chase down problems with it. Just bolt on some power and go
That brings us to the great sacrilege, I want a rotrex. The potential of a weekend install and cooler track runnings is very appealing. The other option would be the trackspeed setup but it's not a full kit yet. The TDR kit with the 94 unit and an MS3 is the current path.
