Default M4M: Bear Power Bottom Miata Driver Looking For Love

Hi I'm Max I've had this terrible little bastard for about two years now. Started off stock with **** paint, a real bomex front bumper, unbalanced wheels, 11 previous owners, and an all-around sketchy vehicle history report. It was cheap as hell and I was in desperate need of a car so I crossed my fingers and bit the bullet.

I threw a bunch of parts at it in the first month and enjoyed having a gas efficient daily driver. I have a 94 infiniti q45 that has been an ongoing "drift car" project for the last 2 years as well which was sucking up all my money, but i finally picked up a torsen diff for cheap from one buddy and some modified knuckles for another... slowly I realized this car was pretty fun and easy to slide around so it kinda took priority.

A year passed and I decided it was finally time for paint. After 3 months of slowly figuring out that rolling on paint wasn't as easy as the youtube video suggested I had it pretty much how I wanted it.

Did a handful events and then on Halloween at Rd. 1 of Thunder Drift SuperAm I manji'd a bit too hard into the first turn...

Rolled it back over and it started right up. Replaced the radiator, spark plugs, and air filter and it was good to go.

I wanted to re-shell over to an na, but the vultures around here are insanely fast. After a couple months of searching I gave up and brought the zombie back to life. Kinda decided to just take this thing as far as I can.

I found a supercharger for sale for cheap out in the boonies so I went and swooped it up. Beat on it for a few months and ended up running the rest of SuperAm, finishing 3rd in points.

Started on my ProAm build and got a cage and v-mount setup. And started collecting some clean body panels.

Then last weekend I drove up to Oregon for an event and the 4th cyl overheating issue came up and bit me right in the butt hole.

The car still held up to two days of drifting and the 300 mile drive back home though so I'm happy with that. After all this thing has been through I can't believe it didn't happen sooner.

So that's what brings me here. "Turbo" engine build time. I'll be staying s/c for the time being just so I can have less down time, but a nice turbo shiny sounds pretty good to me.

LOL, I was going to talk **** - but then I saw you rolled a car and kept tracking it.

Seriously though, don't waste your time swapping a motor into that shell. The shell is trashed and the motor is trashed = total loss.

haha i know i'd definitely talk **** at myself whether or not i keep tracking it.

my thinking is - i'm still constantly hitting stuff, and it's not that i think i'll ever stop doing that, but i might as well get as much use out of this thing as i can. until i get to a really competitive level where having a straight car that you can correctly align matters there's no real reason to get rid of it.

i wouldn't be swapping anything in. just doing a basic motor build for boost and a good tune for now. we'll see how much longer the chassis lasts. if it lasts another year i'll be more than happy. and if the motor holds up i wouldn't mind throwing it in an s-chassis or ae86 shell and pissing everyone off lol
