Miata newbie in VA joining for any and all advice
Hey all,
Just joined the forum, I don't have a Miata yet, but I'd love to pick one up to make a fun little car out of. Been on the search for the right one for a couple months now! I've been lurking on here reading build logs, turbo power numbers, and everything in between to get an idea of what I'd want out of a Miata!
Main goal is to pick one up for a fun weekender/autocross car. Currently DD a 2002 Mini JCW, so I guess I've found a theme of small cars for me.
My one concern is having trouble fitting in a Miata, so I've been researching seats and foamectomys to get my tall *** in a little piece of Japanese engineering.
Will definitely be asking questions as I go along, you guys seem to help a ton with the right info!

Welcome to the forum. I used to live down in Norfolk for a couple of years and have been in your area.
I am 6'1" and found it uncomfortable to drive in stock seats. I cut the rear seat mounting humps out, bent the rear slider mounting points level to the floor, drilled holes in the floor and made backing plates for the underside. I also needed to remove a bit of carpet and padding beneath the rear of the seat bottom so the seat wouldn't drag the carpet after that. That helped by 3/4 inch. I never did a foamectomy but that might have helped also.
Afterwards I switched to Kirkey aluminum seats bolted straight to the floor in back but still using the front mounting points and have been very happy. They aren't adjustable and are more difficult for egress but I like them. I find them more comfortable than stock and more comfortable than any of the fiberglass seats I have tried. But everyone has their favorites.

Long Shots is a bar that is local to you which is owned by a Miata guy. He is semi active on here. Otherwise there are a good number of other miata owners in the 757. I know a few in that area have my turbo setups.

im chilling down in the 540 staunton area. Im deciding now if I want to switch vehicle platforms.. so I might have a good lead for you on a rust free california car, with a floor thats already been lowered 2 inches for the driver..
