Default Michigan Newbie

Hello everyone, just thought I should introduce myself. My name is Sai, I'm 21 years old and I am currently an Automotive student/Lube technician. I got my stock 97 Miata in June of 2011 with 58,xxx miles and it's been my summer car since then. So far I have only done some minor exterior modifications and was planning to start on the suspension but that will be put on hold for now because I have 94 spare block to built at my school. Any advice is welcome!

My goals
- Fun summer daily car
- Reliable 250 WHP

My long term plans (2-3 years???)
- Build up 94 lower block with forged internals (In progress...)
- VVT Head
- 6-speed transmission
- 3.636 Ring and Pinion
- Turbo Kit (FM or Begi or TSE)
- FM Happy Meal Clutch
- 6UL Wheels (15x8 or 15x9)
- Coilovers
- Aluminum radiator
- Sway bars
- Roll bar
- FM Butterfly brace

Parts acquired so far...
- Supertech 8.6:1 Pistons 83.5mm
- Supertech piston rings
- Manley Rods
- Clevite Bearings
- ARP Head Studs
- ARP Main Studs

I wouldn't have held off suspension plans to build an engine, but it looks like it's already too late for that.

However thorough and thoughtful engine build with stock suspension > the bandaided ebay bullshit we usually see from noobs. I don't have the actual spare block yet, but I do have a nice box of parts that is pretty close to yours.

Well I got the engine for a good deal and I gotta take advantage of the free machining at school while I can! But yeah don't worry, I will probably have the suspension parts installed on the car before the lower block. I still have to source a vvt head and 6 speed trans.
