Default My bigger TAG Kart

Hello everybody, my name is Nick! I've been racing TAG karts since I was about 12, and always wanted to drive it on the street. Well towards the end of high school I saved up and bought myself a 2001 Nb Mx5 with the sport package. Racing has always been one of my passions, so naturally, I bagan modifying my car to emulate the Japanese time attack cars. Now I'm a college student, and part time racecar driver

Some of you my know me from Clubroadster. I'll mostly be buying a trading parts with you all, but I will contribute and help as much as I can!

Modifications are as followed:
-1 *real* Bride Vios III racing seat. (in red as homage to the RX7 Spirit-R)
-Hard Dog Hard Core Double Diagonal Hardtop bar
-Mazdaroadster 6-speed short shifter with a super heavy custom **** from Stayflossy, and an aluminum bushing from 5x Racing
-Fortune Auto Coilovers with 8k/6k springs
-Racing beat 1.125 tubular sway bar up front
-Axxis Dust-imate brake pads with SS lines
-ARC intake Chamber, Green panel filter, and high-performance vacuum hose duct lol
-stock header, stock midpipe, and ebay exhaust. Looking to buy MSM rear muffler.
-Gloss black Headlights from Gomiata. Mazdaspeed Headlight bezels coming.
--16x7 Konig feathers with 205/45/16 tires.
-lastly, soft top delete, spare delete, and Kenwood headunit.

Welcome to the forum.

Am I supposed to know what a Spirit minus R is? You speak of it like it is common knowledge and worthy of emulating.

The RX7 Spirit-R was a special edition RX7 sold in Japan. They had red Recaros from the factory.

Welcome to MT Nick!

The car looks good and appears to have a pretty reasonable collection of parts.

Do you race anything other than the karts? I'm not familiar enough with them, but are your TAG karts shifters?

I still keep a 125cc Honda shifter in the garage. Nice car, but needs better suspension

Woo, jdm lol. Thanks for the welcome guys. Yeah the Spirit-R is my favorite Mazda, you know, because racecar. The only thing I race besides my TAG kart (*single speed* Touch And Go!) is my car. Well, autocross and HPDE if those count. I love Honda and Rotax motors, although they aren't the most powerful, they don't break every 5 seconds like the fastest motors out there do. What suspension would you recommend? I got those new on Black Friday for $600 because they were a showcase set that Fortune Auto brought along to events. I like them a lot, not too stiff, pretty comfortable, and are great on rough roads. Looking back on it, I felt I delved too deep into research when buying my suspension. Honestly, I think I would be more happy with these+good tires and wheels than a single set of super-duper-high-performance coilovers.

Xida, food, gas, college. Pick three lol. Again, I'm happy with my Fortune Autos. Have you riden/driven a car with them?

Have you ever driven a car with XIDAs? Telling people here that you're happy with your Fortune Auto coilovers is like telling a sommelier that you're quite happy with your 40 of Olde English.

No, so we can't make accusations about each coilover if each of us hasn't been in a car with the opposing coils lol. I haven't heard anybody say that phrase in forever haha

It doesn't go both ways. Sommeliers may have never tasted Olde English, but they can still authoritatively tell you that it's not very good

Given what he has into his current setup, and given his constraints, Xidas seem like a good aspirational goal for an upgrade but I don't think we should beat him up too much.

Maybe I'm just being judgmental from a stressful week at work, or because you mentioned coming from CL so I immediately had a bad taste in my mouth, but did you really list "spare delete" in your list of modifications? come on man...

But I am jealous of the TAG/shifter cart racing. A coworker races what sound to be the same thing (single speed go kart of death) and I have always wanted to drive one, but couldn't justify buying one when I know I would just get myself in trouble/dead by driving it on the street.

Hey everyone, I suppose I should update this thread at least once every two years lol. Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone again for being so helpful with the constant issues I have with my Miata. Right now it's running great! I'm still holding strong in the Miata, and still trying to improve it. After college I would like to turbocharge it, but I want to wait until I can afford a high quality and reliable turbo system (I.E. Expensive). I've been driving at Driveway Austin a lot since I first made this thread, and so far I have been doing very well. Enough anyways that the owner of the track personally suggested that I race Spec Miatas. My goal though is simply to beat my father's 2000 Porsche 911 2wd with Dunlop ZIIs, Bilstein coilovers, full catless exhaust, intake, and tune. I can beat him on the smaller course, but if they open up the full track it is difficult to keep up honestly. Of course, that's where the turbo part plays in.

These may be the wisest words ever uttered on any internet forum anywhere.

I award you one cat.

Haha thank you Joe. While I do not post much, I do read and listen. While I do tend to overthink things, it's always baffled me when people cheap out on something that not only doubles or triples the power of their car, but also can cause catastrophic damage to your engine. I'm not sure what my power goal would be, but I would imagine there is a point to where it becomes unreasonably difficult to put the power down and keep the rear end in line at a track.

By the way, is there a page here where you can see all of the most recent posts in order like Clubroadster? I like this forum better, but I do like how the homepage there lists the most recently updated threads in descending order.
