Default n00b, Looking to turbo; curios about n00b stuff

Hi, first post about my first car and glad it's an MX-5. Just bought my miata recently and I am hoping to turbo it eventually as well as do some more minor upgrades within the next few weeks. Off topic, buy want to know if I can I can fit 15x8 wheels, first priority is definently removing the daisys. Glad to be on miataturbo!

Andy

+25 and +34 are doable. Less than +25 requires you to talk with a lisp.

Thanks. I think I may have to go with 15x7s anyway because the
Dunlop Direzza DZ102s are only $68 on tirerack right now, and that's too good to pass. Just wish I could get the DZ102s in 225

205s fit on 8 inch wheels just fine.

Wouldn't that stretch the tire a bit? definitely not a fan of stance...

Kind of, but it's actually in the name of performance/lap-times. 205 on 8" wheel is good, as is a 225 tire on 9" wheel. A 195 tire on 9" wheel is definitely stanced out, yo.

Welcome to the forum.

205s are fastest on an 8" wheel.

DZ102s are slow on everything.

...but 225's are faster on an 8" wheel than 205's on an 8", IIUC.

But if he buys a 7 in wheel he won't have any option to ever run 225s.

7 in wheels are lighter than 8s by a small margin, FWIW.

hmm. I didn't know the DZ102s were slow.. I just wanted a cheap performance tire and at tirerack it's $68 for 195/$70 for 205. But are there any better tires I can get for relatively low money? Also I don't mind a little drifting now and again..

I'm still pretty new here, and although I had been a lurker for a couple years, you should know better than to say crap like this without proving some sort of intelligence first

Wow should I just go to club roadster? My feelings are hurt. Not full on drifting but, you know, just getting the tail out every now and then. Ever heard of lift off over-steer? IT'S NOT AN AUTOCROSS MACHINE yet! Come on guys, how about some suggestions...

"you should know better than to say crap like this without proving some sort of intelligence first" eh? Well I'm sorry I'm not so 'gifted with knowledge' like you guys.. 'Tis my first car. Come on, this is a miata it won't end up in a ditch, much easier to drive than a 911 at the limit. I wouldn't exactly call myself a F1 driver, but I know what I'm doing.

No hard feelings. But take it easy though I'm only 16

Maybe. I mean, you did just say that you want to put on crap tires so that you can slide your car into a curb. If you can suck up your durrrrifting dreams and take a little criticism, you may survive. Just don't discuss driving ever again.

Welcome to the forums!

All in all to get you 'started'. I wouldnt even worry about the turbo aspect till you have other supporting mods first.

Ecu ( please learn how to tune b4 turbo!, this forum is abundant of megasquirt knowledge )

clutch/wheels/tires/suspension/brakes... etc.

you'll be doing mad drifffs out of corners in no time.... and into curbs.
