Hahaha. Well whatever, still no need to be such a-holes about it. Anyway, is DZ102 really that bad? or should I buy an overpriced Toyo with not enough tread. Anyway I daily this car so I want something that'll last.. NO DRIFTING! :crx:

hmm. I didn't know the DZ102s were slow.. I just wanted a cheap performance tire and at tirerack it's $68 for 195/$70 for 205. But are there any better tires I can get for relatively low money? Also I don't mind a little drifting now and again..
Good question. Nobody has ever asked this before. I'll spoon-feed a time. 205/50-15 Federal 595 RS-R. Same price. Or less. And its favorite hobby isn't drowning in hairy ballsacks. |
16 years old. drifting on the street.
yep, it will end up in a ditch. |

take it easy though I'm only 16 :hs:
Don't take it personally, but do listen to what you are being told here. Don't blow the precious little money you have on shitty tires, and definitely don't mangle your car by drifting. Even if you don't end up wheels up, it's still going to tear the shit out of your drivetrain. Plus, it might make you look cool to your brofriends, but it doesn't do much for the ladies. |

yep, it will end up in a ditch. To the rest of the world, this just means another drift-tard put a car into a wall/curb/telephone pole and is somehow proud of it. Meanwhile, they are searching the JDM scene for the RB26detttttt because the more t's the more awesome the swap and will elevate them to Mega-Bro status amongst the other mentally challenged. Every time I hear someone talking about drifting in a positive light, it reminds me of the movie Idiocracy. Headlights, go do a ton of reading on here for a few months. It will make things much easier on you. When I speak of showing some form of intelligence, I am not saying prove you're genius, but rather your not a drift-tard |
more t's get more d

Well haha guys. If it ends up in a ditch I can laugh because that's my outlook. Not stuck up 'MX-5 purists/pricks. If it ends up in a ditch this site will be notified. Fair?

Pics or it didn't happen |
Do you have a cat by chance?
Seriously about the tires: you want the best summer street tires that you can buy. I'm not talking the most expensive tires, but search around the autocross/track forums and craigslist to see if someone's dumping a set of wheels and good street tires. To get the best experience out of a Miata (any car IMO), you want a good set of dedicated summer tires and a $3-400 set of winter beater wheels with good snow tires for the winter (if driving daily year round). |
Purists? Based on the number of us that drive subarus, focuses, etc. probably not. Pricks? Absolutely, but we're fun.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that I was functionally retarded at 16. One day when you're around 25, you'll wake up and realize that you were too. It's all part of the male experience. Don't take yourself too seriously, and take concealer's advice and get some decent tires. Your car can do some pretty awesome things with some good rubber under it. |
I totalled a van with two girls riding with me when I was 16. I missed a curve showing off and put it in the river.
Don't try to convince me you know what you are doing. I learned to drive by watching The Dukes of Hazzard, Smokey and The Bandit, and the original Speed Racer when I was a kid. I know what I'm doing. |
Thanks guys you all give stellar advice. Especially Monk. now I realize how shitty drifting is to a vlsd/tranny. I should probably stop. Although most 16 y/o kids are functionally retarded I would have to agree that drifting probably is stupid. Know a friend who drifted his challenger into some deep shit. But yeah I guess the DZ102s are shit? Thinking of going with bfg sport COMP-2s maybe.. But i need to do more research
|
Enginerd, what do you mean cat? I have no pets. Catalytic converter? yes and stock. Unless you mean house animal in which case I say, why?
And sixshooter, I'd like to throw in a quote by Jay Leno: "You know, racecar driving's like sex, all men think they're good at it." Top Gear S13 Episode 7 Probably not true in either instances for a 16 y/o... |
Attaboy. You're gonna be all right after all.
A lot of people like the comp-2s. It's definitely a step up over the DZ102s. As far as the cat question goes... there isn't really a good answer to that, but it's kind of a thing here. Notice the logo. |

I posted Federal 595 RS-Rs. If you're on a budget, it doesn't get better. Bonus points for being cheap enough to just throw away every year. |
And Formula One hero Jackie Stewart said something about cornering properly being like bringing a woman to climax. A lot more men think they do than actually do.
|
In the case of MT, men to climax.
|
Federal 595 RS-Rs, eh? 2 questions. 1) can I get them at tirerack and 2) is there a decent thickness of tread? but if they're that cheap I guess I could just buy same one next year, as the previous owner gave me some michelin snows and I get Nevada winters. So I'll definitely look into those

2) I don't understand the question. They aren't slicks, if that's what you're asking? |
