Default New Guy Into

Hello all,

I have been reading for months to make a decision to turbo or not to turbo. Y’all make it sound like too much fun to miss out on, so here I am!

I’m 28, live in KY (no emissions) have a 2003 Shinsen version Miata with 133k miles. 5 Speed manual and Fuji LSD. I have left it mostly stock with just IHE. Have replaced a few little things due to wear. I have a goal to complete my turbo build before summer rolls around as long as parts availability doesn’t throw a wrench in my plan.

This will be a daily driver so my goal is safe, reliable power levels. From what I’m reading 8 -10 Psi and around 200 whp is possible and safe so that is my goal.

I plan on starting with Ms3pro pnp and a wide band, get the car running N/A and learn about tuning with VVT because that’s the most unfamiliar thing that I’ll be working with.

I have never turbo’d a car myself, tho I have helped on a few buddies’ projects (no Miatas). I’m no master mechanic but have always done most work on my cars myself.

I am currently making some decisions and trying to put together a shopping list to make sure I stay on course. Kits from FM and others are tempting but often out of stock and I believe I can save money and get good quality parts by slowly buying parts as they are available.

Anyway, that’s my long winded introduction. Happy to be part of the family!
