Default new guy. miata probs

First off id like to say hello and thanks for having me on here. Ive been on the forum several times but never joined untill now.

I have a 95 turbo miata with megasquirt. And cant find out why I have no spark. Getting fuel and plenty of compression. Bought the car as a project and it has some crazy wiring lol. Its been wired for coil on plug with capacitors. First could someone tell me what does the capacitors do for it?

I was driving the car and all of a sudden it started misfiring get it back to the shop and and cylinder 2 and 4 had no fire. After some diag 1 and 3 went out also? Has new coils and all the wiring seems to be ok. Ive checked wiring and my iat sensor. Any body have a clue? Any thing will help thanks guys.

I moved your very first post in our forum to its appropriate location, the Meet and Greet section.

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps someone will assist you with your troubleshooting of the ignition problem and your MegaSquirt.

Post pictures of your car when you get a chance.

capacitor stores energy for the coils.

Without the capacitor, the wire sees something like this:

"Sittin' on the dock of the bay, watching the TIIIIDE roll away, sittin on the doOMGWTFBBQ!!!ck of the bay, waaastin TiiiiimeOMGWTFBBQ!!!"

With the capacitor, the wire sees this:
"I LIKE BIG butts, and I cannot lie, You other brotha's can't deny, cause when a girl walks in with a little bitty waist and a round thing in your face you get SPRUNG! wanna pull up tough 'cause you know that butt was STUFFED."

One of those two is much less stressful to everything on the battery side of the capacitor.

That's a colorful description, Fooger. I'm not sure what it means but I'm glad you contributed.

Are you still on the COP setup or are your new coils the stock style?

I'd completely re do the previous owner's wiring harness, there probably some crappy work in there.

CAS can go bad too, have you swapped with a good one and noticed any difference?
