New Guy from Omaha

12 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, my name is Mike and I'm from Omaha, NE. I purchased my first Miata back in September of 2012 from a lady in Washington state. The car is a 1994 Laguna Blue with 115,000 miles when I picked it up, the car has 122,000 miles now. Since the purchase I have added a few mods to improve the car just a bit. Mods include Katzkin leather seats, I.L. motorsports center console, voodoo shift knob, Cobalt catback exhaust, Tein Flex coilovers, Flyin' Miata sway bars, Konig Wideopen 15X8 -25 wheels with falken tires, 949 racing lug nuts, R package Rep. ebay front lip, and Touge Run rear spoiler. Here are some pictures:

this is how the car looked when I first got it

This is the car as of today

Im joining this forum because I want to get the best knowledge and advise towards forced induction for my Miata. I look forward to interacting with some of you and hopefully get the chance to meet some of you at local meets and cruises.

Welcome. Nice car.

Stein 03-17-2013 11:52 PM

Welcome. As one of the...two? other Nebraskans here I don't know if there will be much in the line of meets around here.

tasty danish 03-18-2013 12:18 AM

Welcome, nice ride.

Since you're still there you may think I'm nuts, but I miss Omaha a lot. Never cared too much for NE as a whole, but Omaha was always a soft spot for me.

Please go eat a crap load of big-freds and runza for me. Brother Sebastian's if you're feeling fancy.

Braineack 03-18-2013 06:12 AM

Welcome, GoBigRed!

Are you a member of the local miata club for western Iowa Eastern Nebraska (WIEN) I know they have dine and drive a few times a month. The Austin Healey club hosts drives and autocross events every couple of months.

I love it here, Omaha is a nice place to live in my opinion. As far as the food goes, I'll have to swing by Runza today for lunch and eat a "Runza" for you.

Welcome, those were some very peculiar wheels in the first pic, good swap :)

What's up Mike! It's Pedro here, and I actually think we may have more people in Omaha than we know. You, me, Lesac, and Alex are four right off the bat. Kevin's car is pretty sick and should be boosted any day now:

Well heck, I never knew there were so many locals. I have a V8 Miata and the Miata SAAB swap going together will be turboed. I'm north of Lincoln by Ceresco.

GoBigRed 03-19-2013 05:25 PM

Hey Pedro! I hope your turbo setup is coming along. Stein, I would love to ride in your V8 swapped miata sometime.

It's funny because I've always adored that town and I've been all over the US. When I tell people how much I like the O they look at me like I'm kidding...

Hope you enjoyed the runza. Please tell me you're down with big fred's however, that's possibly the best pizza ever. Italian sausage, pepperoni and romano cheese. We used to order it half baked (heh heh) and drive home to KC to finish cooking and eat it.

Welcome Mike, we will all have to meet up some time.
I believe I may have met you 2 years ago at the Ice Cream Cruise.

Hey thanks! I'm always game to meet up/wrench on cars/whatever. Did I have the S2000 when you and I met?

lesac 03-20-2013 09:54 PM

Details on your v8 build? And chalk up another ride lol. Maybe bring it out to the first autox for the season in lincoln this april. They're having a test and tune the day before so you can get in a ton of runs.

I'm taking my sweet @$$ time with the 1.8L and 6speed swap. Just got my clutch yesterday and I have a few parts on order yet. Car won't see boost until at least June.

Shooting to have mine done by the 12th of April, but I'm thinking that may not happen.

well, I just got done installing my Flyin' Miata Voodoo kit, Flyin' Miata Hybrid 3inch exhaust, and Flyin' Miata "Happy Meal" clutch/flywheel kit, overall the install was straight forward and the car runs great. Here are a few pics:

As you can see, I need to rearrange some lines and whatnot but I'll get it all cleaned up in the next couple of weeks.

lesac 05-06-2013 07:50 PM

Looks good! I was working on mine a good chunk of today. Part of me really wishes I would have just gone with a prefab kit.

adwolfe12 05-06-2013 08:02 PM

I guess I'll post since Kevin sent the link over to me.

I'm Alex, I have a 95 that looks like a turd(green) with a black hardtop, ricer trunk, goofy wheels. You'll know it's me when you see it. Trust me!

Alex

Welcome to the forum, guys. Does the turbo kit make you smile yet?

viperormiata 05-07-2013 12:19 AM

Man. FM makes a clean kit.

Next thing you need is some real engine management!

TravisFC3S 05-07-2013 12:31 AM

Grand Island checking in. Anyone going to the Kansas City meet on the 18th?

Hey thanks! I will say that my Miata was very fun to drive before I added the FM goodies, however, the sound of the turbo spooling up and the feeling of the added power makes this car soo much more enjoyable.

Flyin' Miata does a great job with their kits, I'm happy I spent the extra money and went with them. I agree, I do need a stand alone ECU, I'm hoping to make that a winter project for this year.

I will be in Eureka Springs, AR for a Miata event that weekend, otherwise I'd be all over it.

I will not be in attendance. I have the unfortunate privilege of attending a wedding for my wife's nephew in wonderful Branson, MO. They are both from Lincoln, but they thought it would be "neat" to have it down there so I guess i have to :dealwithit:

94LagunaR 05-10-2013 09:50 PM

Damn this makes me want to get my kit done and installed on my car. Laguna Blue is such a beautiful color.

lesac 05-13-2013 03:59 AM

Mike, Id love to see your finished car sometime, and compair it to my custom setup. right now im about 80% done, but its just small things to finish up with.
Also I hate to be "that guy" but would you like to sell your drill bit and tap you used for your oil pan?

I will probably be working on my car the majority of this week during the day time. if your free, let me know and we may be able to meet up.

hey buddy, sorry for the late response, hopefully your car is coming along alright. If you still need the drill bit to tap your pan I'll let you use mine. Let me know what works for you and maybe we can meet up this weekend.
