New guy from Raleigh, NC
Hey!
My name is Adam and I have had my 99 Base Miata for 2.5 years now and just recently clocked 60,000 on the odometer. So far all work done to my car has been for handling and looks, but with plans for more power in the future. Here are some of my upgrades:
Racing Beat Sway Bars Front and Rear
Tokiko Illuminas
H&R Race Springs
15x8 6UL with 225/R15/45 Hancook Ventus RS2s
Front Air Dam
Track Dog Racing Air splitter
Flying Miata Turbo Exhaust
Seats from 2006 MX-5
Here are some pictures from before my seat swap:
I have been researching the process of turbocharging my Miata for a year or so now, and as of today I have begun the process. I have just purchased used FM2 kit without electronics. My initial power goals are 170 or so whp so that I will not have to do a clutch upgrade. But, I want to be able to easily upgrade to more power in the future when I can afford a new clutch. Therefore I do not want to wast money on a cheap piggyback system(voodoo). Currently I am leaning towards a MS system for my engine management. But at this time, MS instalation and tuning seem a little intimidating to me. What do you guys think?

Yeah that should be me. I went to high school up there and still come back fairly often. I believe one of you knows Ryan or NCZX with the TT 350Z from Boone? He is one my roommates here in Raleigh and has mentioned/shown me a black turbo NA owned by a guy named Adam in Boone. So does that makes 3 Adams with turbo miatas from the Boone area now?

I see you have an FM turbo exhaust. I assume the car is currently normally aspirated! Do you think the exhaust is to loud? Does it sound good? Did it hurt low end performance?
I want to go bigger on my car, but am afraid it will sound bad or be too loud. I have an n/a high compression motor and bigger cam, and I am speculating that I need more exhaust to match my build.
That is a nice looking car by the way. I hope you enjoy it here.

Yes it is, and no the turbo exhaust is no too loud. I actually really like the way it sounds. I purchased the muffler used for a good deal and decided I would try it out on my car, if it was too loud I would simply remove it till I went turbo. Well the muffler is still on my car so that says something. People online will tell you it sounds as if you are driving around without a muffler, but I did a comparison to no muffler, stock muffler, and turbo muffler during my install to determine the differences. The turbo is louder/harsher than stock, but nowhere as loud as the car without a muffler. It will not make your car sound like a civic with a fart can if that is what you are worried about. However I only have experiences with the flyin miata turbo muffler and can not vouch for other turbo exhaust systems.

Pics Of NC Seats
Here are some pictures of my NC seats installed. They are a little lighter and wider than the stock 99 NB seats. To fit them I mounted them with some custom brackets to the NB rails. Currently they sit a tad high. I will lower them some when I get time for a rework. I am also in the process of matching some interior panels to the seat color. Maybe 01+ door panels with a saddle tan insert? I would have taken the hard top off for the pictures but no roommates were home to help.
