Default new here

Whats up miataturbo-ers, My name is Tyler, and im from Houston, but currently stay in San Marcos. I currently have a 2010 mazdaspeed3, mods are in my sig as long as it works. Im pretty much done with the speed, its at a good stopping point, because anything else im just seeing how much i can squeeze out of the limits of the baby turbo (plans of build and big turbo have gone for now). Fairly knowledgeable about tuning, and reading data, have a decent amount of mechanical experience.

so probably thinking... okay.. mazda 3 fggt why you here?

well i am wanting to build an na miata, ground up. Yes i have a good idea of where my goals lay, and the path i will take to get there, but we all know that with cars, the path takes many turns, and has many forks in the road. Plans are to buy a 1.8 short block from a 94/95 (these years have oil and water feeds ideal for turbo'ing i believe), gather parts for the build and have it machined and built (probably bored to a 1.9) probably going for 8.5:1 or 9.5:1 as i like high boost. Then grab a head from a '99 (research pending for top end build). will also be looking for a 6 speed trans (hopefully from the msm) and everything else im still reading/learning which way im going and why. Megasquirt looks like my standalone of choice, along with proefi. Im just ranting about whats been going through my mind, but bottom line im looking for short block currently to start this crazy money pit.

here is the speed... ignore fogged up head lights, also ignore the cali rake stance.. will be leveling the front soon

Tyler's MazdaSpeed3 - Imgur

so this is my intro, im here to read and learn and make some more friends in the gear head scene

Not bad. I'd say the rear should come up rather than the front go down. Ah well nobody's perfect, at least it's not HELLAJDMTYTESLAMMED.

If you actually do read and learn, you should have no problem.

Ah **** never mind, you're probably just spamming to 15 so you can sell your speed3.

No joke. It happens all the time. Nobody will care as long as you ACTUALLY contribute to the forum, but if you just post nonsense "nice car bro" type responses and then immediately put your 3 for sale you will get some flak.

Is this posted at the mazdaspeed forums? If I was looking for a speed 3 I would be checking there before here.

I wish it was. This site gets more noobs that are just trying to spam so they can sell **** than we get people who actually want to join the community.

update : i bought my motor today

i snagged the deeds to a non-running 1.8l long block, its from my buddy's 97 who's coolant hose came off, over heated, and did not run anymore. He got a new motor, and swapped it yesterday. Tomorrow i will be checking it out, he says there are no holes in the block and did not have a catastrophic failure. I plan on running the 99 head and completely building and boring to 1.9 so alot of problems that could of happend i will not be worried about (to my knowledge). Im also getting all the accessories like a/c, alt, and all the other goodies. And snagged for a STEAL.

so question: what do YOU think i be looking for while inspecting? with my build plans in mind, so nothing really to do with the head, or any parts that will be replaced with a full bottom to top build. We will be doing a leakdown test in the very near future to check everything out, then disassembling.

@braineack;

edit: man i need to learn how to tag

My advice: Be careful. It's hot. Overhot.
