Hey everyone, I finally decided to hop on a forum to hopefully get a few questions answered, I have a 1999 Base and I built the engine a little over a year ago (almost 4k) on the motor, when I was getting the machine work done they deemed the crankshaft I got unusable so the machine shop ordered one (apparently hard to find) and they got the lighter cast crankshaft from the protege, I’ve been running it N/A and auto crossing but I’m looking for a little more power and I was hoping to get a turbo kit but I’m not sure if the crankshaft will hold up to much, if any, boost.
a few questions:
will the protege crank hold boost?
is it worth it to set it up for E85? (With or without turbo)
should I get a built trans/rebuild mine?
also, after my last autocross event my idle intermittently would drop to around 400-500rpm and seem to be missing on 2 cylinders, it was a little chilly/windy any tips there?
I'm sure I have more questions but none are coming to mind, I’ll ask when I think of them, any and all help is appreciated!!
