Hey,

I'm Scott from Pittsburgh. I just re-relocated to Pittsburgh from North Carolina last month and am looking to start the long process of turbo'ing my Miata in the distant future. I'm 28, and work as a civil engineer. I have been married for a little over 3 years and have a 5 month old daughter. My Miata has always been a learning experience and I have used tinkering with it as a way to de-stress from grad school. I've had a few DSMs in the past, but honestly had no idea what I was doing and never got into properly having fun with those cars. I was more of the reason why they are a nightmare to deal with (cheap college student).

Right now I have a 1993 red base car with A/C as the only option. The car itself is a FL/NC car all of its life and it will not see snow/salt. I got the car in October of '11 and have done a good amount of maintenance which included upgrading to Koni yellows and FM springs, TRM C1M's with Yoko S.drives, and a few other choice upgrades. I did replace the clutch with a the Mazda value kit, which will have to come out sooner or later if this turbo ordeal does happen.

My lack of knowledge of turbo's and standalone tuning has always bothered me, so I have been reading reading reading on this site. I joined up in '10 but wasn't serious back then, heck I didn't even own a Miata at that time! The premise of my Miata has always been to not use paycheck money in order to mod the car. I've been able to take birthday/christmas money and buy/sell parts on eBay or CL to fund my modifications. That in and of itself has been a fun hobby. I've been able to put around $3k into the car without the burden it could put on my family. Anyway, I'm rambling...

My plan is to scrounge up enough cash for a megasquirt and then later on the tacotaco mani w/ a chinacharger. The other details I haven't quite worked out, but the good thing about being broke is the ability to plan plan plan.

Anyway, I really enjoy learning from some of the build threads, and hope to start one soon to bring my journey up to speed. Thanks for having a great site!

Didn't paint the car. Clay and polish. Need to polish again and wax. It's already faded again pretty badly. I really don't care a heck of a lot what it looks like honestly, but it was nice to bring the paint back. I put plasti-dip on the chip gaurd and it will have to be re-done with something a little stronger. It's peeling quite a bit.

Oh ok, so that's plastidip. It looked like a repaint because the pinstripe was gone and it looked like the rockers were repainted black like they were from the factory.
