Default New Miata Owner from Philly

Hi all.

After having several significantly faster cars and hating convertibles for no real reason, I test drove a Miata that was sitting at a dealer that I went to see a CTS at.

I now have the Miata haha.

It is by far the most fun I have had in any car I have ever owned and my last few cars were a 371 WHP 06 Mustang GT, 1998 365 WHP LS1 Camaro & 2001 Audi S4 Twin Turbo.

I. Love. This. Car.

See you around

You'd be amazed at just how many people do the exact same thing. Start with a much faster car, drive a Miata one time, and become a Miata owner.

What are your plans for the car?

Also, we need pics of the car and cats.

Plans?

I got it with a 30k/3yr warranty so I am going to do RB breather mods, lower, sways, mounts, wheels & Tires, HID kit, full maintenance fresh start & shifter upgrade. Some minor weight reduction if and wherever possible while maintaining it's DD essence.

After the 3yr/30k is up, I will turbo it

Oh, my cat. Puddy. FAT!!

Nice find! You don't see them in that good of condition very often anymore. Spending monies on handling/braking before power adders is always a good idea.

Philly, it's so safe we recommend you put a chain link fence around your driveway. You should probably arm yourselves as well.

There's one city I will NOT be living in.

Welcome.

That is how almost all cities with row homes are. It is common, sets boundaries. People are too comfortable for my tastes. I live in a great neighborhood. I was originally from North Philly which is truly the ghetto. Like in ANY city, every area is highly populated and congested so a lot of foot traffic at random. Kids playing, bicycles etc. As a car nut, I would never let my car be accessible. I also have 3 dogs and a cat.

Better yet, if you look at a Philly crime map, unexpectedly or sadly, you see that almost 85 percent of the crime is in the same 3 area. A bunch of little dots on the map and the rest of city is a very legible map haha.

I used to complain about how strict my HOA was when they'd warn me about the garbage can that was out a day too long, or the grass that was a little too high, and or infested with one too many weeds. I'm beginning to like my neighboorhood now. Yuppies FTW!

You do have the best sandwich in the world named after your city though.

No ones every heard of a Oregon City Cheese Steak.

We don't have an HOA but I wish we did sometimes. The sheer volume of people/homes per block up the chances of odd *****. I have a guy across the street who never mows his grass. He pays the fines and mows it. Then it never gets mowed until the next fine.

Down the street a guy who painted his awnings and front green. Looks hideous. Next to him a house that has Florida/Caribbean "styling". The most we can do is go to a neighborhood council type meeting, bitch and hope the embarrassment pushes them address the issues.

I am not too social so my goal would be to eventually move to a shitty house with lots of land hehe

We need to find a place like this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/insert-bs...r-house-77487/

Outside says "**** off, I'm baller", and requires no maintenance.

Inside says "I like to work on cars all day".

The fake roll bar. It screams poser. It's the previous owner's fault and not yours.

And if you get rear-ended it will split your skull open like dropping a watermelon on concrete.

Hard Dog makes real track-legal roll bars that will protect you in an accident.

Get their high density padding kit to protect your melon.

Just thought it stock since the car seems stock otherwise and I never cared for convertible cars so never gave it a second thought. Thanks, really

Mine had a "style bar" when I purchased it as well. First mod to the car even before taking any pics of it was to pull that thing off! I didn't like the look of it with the plastic wind deflector installed in between the hoops, and with it in place you couldn't use the stock wind blocker. So I pulled it off and then took the pics I posted in my own newbie introduction thread.
