New MSM owner in Houston
Howdy!!
Traded my '01 NB in on an '04 VR MSM. Current plans include FM LE, cooling / ducting mods and handling. Goals are to split time daily driving with my truck and autocross. I have already found a lot of good info.

Your VR red looks VERY RED.
Clean car nonetheless
You'll be set with the FM LE & stock everything else. Maybe a new radiator & M-tuned coolant reroute (Skip mishimoto as their quality varies per unit
)
We'll have to meet up sometime if you're ever in the ATX area

Forgot I had camera on my phone set to HDR mode... Thanks!
Already have a crossflow and fan kit on its way. I'll do suspension, wheels / tires, etc., too.
Sure thing. I want to go hit the Three Sisters area someday...

Get a new ECU in that thing ASAP. ESPECIALLY after putting the LE on there. I owned a Ti '04 MSM with the LE and sold it less than a year later because the stock tune drove me insane. Don't be dumb like me and just get it tuned!
Based on everything I have been hearing, that is going to be added to my plan. I just need to get educated on what my options are and how to go about it. I will have to swap back to stock ECU for emissions.
What would I need to do for base maps? I know very little about tuning and having to do that myself sounds daunting.
It can use MAF I believe but not recommended. Using the MAF you're relying on that unit to be precise as possible where map is what the intake manifold sees.
If you're looking for tuning + obdII friendly... there's always the XEDE. Uses MAF
BEGi in Spring Branch, TX sells & tunes them. Not as good as a megasquirt though.
With the megasquirt, you'll have this community to assist as it's widely used. You can swap back in the stock ecu inbetween. Possibly even find a tuner that can tune for power, however all the cold start, idle and misc things your car does will be up to you to configure.
