i'm totally down for autoxing and events guys, my other car should be sold soon so i'll be able to get a GOOD rollbar, a hardtop and some coilovers, whenever i'm walking to my car in the parking lot it seems so high haha, i may have this place in raleigh fab up an exhaust for me, but i dont want it to sound like crap, so does anybody know of any decent exhausts that arent like superduper loud? just makes it louder than stock

I've had roll bars in 2 of my previous Miatas. Although I believe they are a good safety modification, I think that they are not enough to save your butt (or more likely your arms and head) without at least arm restraints, padding, a good harness, and the hard top. Preferably I would go for a full roll cage if I was going to race the car.
I used to think that I was the sh*t with my hard dog roll bars until I saw a video of a guy who roll several times in his Miata. I saw his arm flailing and getting rolled over by the car/roll bar several times. He survived and his arm was broken. it was scary watching that video. Oh yeah, he was knocked unconscious during the rolls I guess when his helmet hit the roll bar. That's why his arm was flailing about so.

Get SDI rollbar padding for head protection. Also, the rollbar may do more then just protect in case of roll-over, IIRC Revlimiter (a user here) was rear ended by a pickup or SUV going somewhere near highway speeds while he was sitting in traffic, I believe he was not injured, this may or may not be due to the roll bar.

i may go with just a hard dog rollbar for now, just so i more protection than absolutely nothing, if i start tracking the car more then more than likely i'll just get a full cage, with padding all around.

Very good idea! I was lucky several years ago that I did not roll my '95R at the Talladega GP track when I went in too hot into a turn and left the track, hit the only possible hazard in the field (a culvert) and went airborne! I had the Hard Dog roll bar (a very nice product), but I was ignorant of how much more protection I needed to avoid serious injury or death.

You only really *need* it if you have no ragtop and drive in the rain. Otherwise it's only required for some types of racing. Under normal driving conditions in good weather, the topless experience is great!

if i get a hardtop i'm just going to take the convertible out altogether, and if i want to go topless, then i'll only do it on days where i KNOW it wont rain. just waiting for this guy to hopefully pick up my old car soon so i'll have an extra 2 grandish in my pocket
