Well my girlfriend bought a 1990 miata the other day, from the outside looks nice, carbon fiber hood, conservative body kit, and its turbo'd.

But upon looking at the car further I am starting to see alot of bothering things about the car. It has an old Airesearch turbo welded straight to a downpipe that is welded all the way to the muffler! No air filter on intake which was sitting open behind the radiator, and a very shoddy array of random pieces to get to the FMIC. Many plugs not connected etc. Sry not trying to drone on here but thats the deal. Its almost difinitly not tuned for any of that mess.

I am hoping to find some patient, skilled people here to help me through this mess and assist me in being able to make informed decisions. I am not a certified mechanic but I know quite alot and work on cars regularly, I am also very familiar with turbo setups as i have been building up a wrx for the past 3 years.

Any quick tips or threads you can think of that might help me get a start on some of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. So ive got horrible internet. I cant load any pics. Tried for 5 days and im done!! I really need someone to throw me a bone on this one.

You have to host the pics on a site such as photobucket. Then take the link from there and paste it to your reply here.

Disconnect the waste gate now, add air filter now.

Does it have a check engine light?
