Default Hello from the UK

Hi

I'm Neil and I'm from the UK. I live near Birmingham, England and I have 2 Miata's (or MX5's as they're known here)

I've had a range of cars over the years but only got around to owning my first MX5 2 years ago. I bought a black Mk1 1993 S Special Eunos imported from Japan in 2008. It had a few nice additions like Gaz Gold coilovers, roll bar, harness eyes, braided brake lines, Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 wheels and a momo steering wheel so I guessed it's seen a track at some point . After a little research I learnt that the roll bar is from an M2 1001 - bonus!

I joined the MX5Nutz and phoenixfives.org forums/clubs in the UK and became more aware of "Flyin Miata's". After a few rides in turbo'd and supercharged cars at club meets I was determined to own one for myself. After months of searching and waiting for the right one to come along I spotted this

White Turbo Mk1 ... Pgd's Old Car - Cars For Sale - MX5Nutz Forum

I bought it 12 months ago and it's my track weapon now! Absolutely love it so I've joined you guys to help me learn how to look after it, more than add power. It's plenty quick enough for our roads and I can outgun some expensive machinery on track!

Regards

Neil

Welcome to the forum! Nice cars! Do you have any pics under the bonnet?

Hi Steve

Thanks for the welcome. I don't have any recent pics of under the bonnet but there's a link to the previous owners "build" thread, inside the for sale thread in my first post. The only difference is that the paintwork has discoloured and not as clean as it was.

The car was built by Paul Roddison - a renowned MX5 racer and race car builder. I've only had do carry out servicing so far. The biggest change has been replacing the Goodwin front disks and bells with VW Corrado G60 solid discs!

I'm waiting for my friend Chris to get a slot in his workshop so the exhaust/turbo manifold studs can be replaced with something stronger. I've had a little search of your threads to see what you guys have been using.

C1-R | C1-R Motorsport Services

Chris's pedigree is pretty good so I know it's in safe hands!

I'm torn between leaving it with the sleeper looks it already has and fixing vents in the bonnet to get some of the heat out!

Its got full FM exhaust from manifold through to back box/tail pipe and only hits 86db on a static test. The problem is the expansion/contraction from heat under the bonnet means I keep losing studs and bolts!
