Default The thread of Boredom. Hi from Denmark.

Cheers all.

Recently had a friend take me to Nürburgring so we could get our cherries popped there (we've only been talking about for 15 years). Anyway - that was a blast and I am definitely going back, but figured, if I'm doing that, I better destroy my own stuff (and not his 350Z which incidentally got baptized in fire (by a BMW) as well (it'll buff out)). So looking at the alternatives I could afford here in Denmark with our ridiculous taxing-of-cars scheme run by "the man", the alternatives, if you want RWD, an old BMW (not happening) or a Miata (MX5 as we like to call them over here). So a 1999 1.8 NB in decent nick was bought with all the good intentions of just leaving well enough alone and just "tighten things up".

I've worked plenty on motorcicles, but this is my first rodeo in the car scene, so stupid questions ad-lib will no doubt be asked along the way ( : (better yet, wish me luck)

Anyway - boring entry over - very happy to be here.

/Steffen

PS: I am going to request that all YouTube DIY videos related to working on the MX5 Miata are fact checked. It's NEVER that easy in real life

Welcome. Scary your command of AMERICAN idioms. I suppose the concepts are universal.

I had had a business trip to Denmark about 20 years ago. Seemed a wonderful place. Legos, B&O, visit to the technology museum. Beautiful countryside.

I did did not know Europe had 1.8 in 1999. Great that you have one.

Research suspension upgrades. Best bang for buck.

Suspension upgrades are WIP. It's not going to be a daily driver - and I am working within a budget, so invested in a set of HSD Monopro with absurdly heavy springs because, you know. Racecar Also have a full set of StrongFlex bushings waiting to go in. At the moment, I'm spending most of the time trying to get underbody protection removed where necessary (scrape, wipe with petroleum, scrape, lather, rinse, repeat ad nauseam) and general taking things apart.
